Why DA isnt Better than Pressure, temp and humidity in BC's

With a little thought and effort it's possible to select air temperature bands that double as rough and ready elevation bands. Referencing the attached image, as we move left one column in the drops we get the same basic effect as reducing the elevation by ~1000ft and if we move right by 1...

Bore update is this normal wear

Holy broken context, Batman. It takes a minute to realize that OP is not saying that he uses WipeOut to remove fire cracking. Turns out it's just 2 completely disjointed and unrelated thoughts that got concatenated together into a single paragraph, if one can even call it that, like some sort of...

Night Vision Burris and Steiner thermals

If you read the relevant law's text, it seems like whomever wrote it had spent more time watching Predator than investigating what actual I^2 & thermal weapon sights actually existed and what features they have... to quote CPC 468: So an active IR illuminator is required and the telescope has...

Night Vision Can any type of laser be seen with a Thermal scope?

Whether or not it can is not the right question. The question would be, "Why would you do such a thing?" and the answer would be that you don't know but it seemed like a neat idea in your head. The whole point of thermal is that it's not dependent on a source of illumination, whether that be...

    Ultimate long range soft case

What I want is something very like the OEM Desert Tech soft case but set up so that it's actually useful. In the annals of clever and well thought out design, you will not find the joker that designed it. The inside of the case has a an utter lack of MOLLE webbing while the outside has only a...

    Search error

The sysadmin in me says there's another sysadmin somewhere that's going to get his pee pee smacked. The smartass in me says If that doesn't work, try turning it off and then on again.

Why Mask Wearing is my Civic Duty

OP: I wear it for the feelz. See how much better of a person I am than you? Everyone else: So, you're saying that you regularly play at being a 15 year old girl and you have no actual reason? I guess it's easier than walking around with your head actually up your own ass out of solidarity with...

Chrono factory match ammo - any benefit?

At 400yrds it takes a major velocity variation to affect drops noticeably. Until you start flinging lead a good ways further than that a chronograph is just an expensive toy. If you start extending your distances to 600+ then you might find it useful for characterizing your ammo. If you start...

Finally Fixed the First of Fortmeier's Four Fatal Flaws For Free Friday

Spiked feet on the skis ended up being counterproductive. Rather than drilling into the skis directly I made a little clamp on dingus that the feet screwed into. All I got for the effort was a tendency to over-load the bipod which induced surprisingly significant shot-to-shot differences in how...

    Need opinion

Any rifle off the shelf anymore in anything from 243win on up should be just fine. Literally could walk into big-5 grab a Savage or Remington or Tikka or blah blah anything off the shelf chambered in nearly any chambering that those come in and slap a decent scope from Leupold or Burris, etc...

What would your Dream bench gun be ?

What is a bench gun? A gun specifically for use at a bench? Well, then it certainly won't have a stock on it. Yes, I'm being facetious. I despise shooting from benches. It's good practice for just about nothing that I'd actually do. Outside of occasionally using a bench for purposes of...

    Back from Africa

It's really best if you start out in an Oxbridge accent and then bounce randomly between that and a California surfer accent, a southern Arkansas hillbilly drawl and then toss in random verbiage choices that originate in Aussie/Kiwi/Boer dialects of English and include the relevant accent for...

    Back from Africa

My maize fields are just about ready to be harvested. This is a bit over 6 hectares, the pic is from last month taken from a couple hundred feet up with a drone. The stripe in the just right of the middle is a few rows of sunflower. The next 3 fields over to the right are getting irrigation...

    Checking drop at 500yds

You know the velocity, you know the bullet. You can find out your elevation to get a nominal barometric pressure. Fill in the little bits in any old ballistics calculator and you'll have your 500yrd dope. Like the man said, 500 is close enough for minor velocity variations to not matter. Given...

Official (DTA) SRS, HTI, Covert, Hunter Thread

I get a little sketched out by built-in bipods. Probably just echos of Kel-Tec's Su-16 and Steyr's Scout rifle dancing in my head. In any event, snaggletooth bipod issues were up front in my list of things to not have problems with. Most of my shooting is done under field conditions anymore...

    Checking drop at 500yds

Have you run a tall target test against your scope to see if the click values are as advertised? If not, that would be the first thing that I'd do and you can do that at 100yrds. After that, then dial your 500yrd dope and you should be slap on target.

It should come in right at 70lbs, as noted in the write up. It's got wheels, fairly certain that's been noted. I specifically mention that it will fly, internationally, and even what fare class is needed for the weight.
