    AR15 Upper Build or Buy?

In my experience, if you can find an upper (or lower for that matter) that is exactly what you want, you can't build your own cheaper. But, if you buy an upper, only to swap out parts, you're better off building your own.

    224 Valk Velocities

I did load work ups with 75, 80, and 88 eldm. 18" craddock button barrel, cfe 223 powder. 75 were about 2850 at book max. 80 were about 2800 at book max, and 88 were about 2600 at book max. I'm in the camp that prefers 80's in an 18" barrel. 88's don't have enough time to get up to speed. I'm...

    The Fix from Q

Mount it to the top rail upside down. Depending on your scope you may be able to see around it. If not, you can at least get your data.

    Shorter AR10 LOP ?

Yeah, i got one a few months ago for my 224 valkyrie. I love it. I had a PRS and much prefer this stock to it.

    Shorter AR10 LOP ?

https://xlrindustries.com/collections/buttstocks/products/tactical-ar-butt-stock Should be able to get pretty short with this. The extension will limit your choices of buffers, but it should work.

    18 to 16" 308 barrel swap help

I sheared an index pin once using a reaction rod. Sent it to compass lake to get fixed. They said they had seen it done several times and because of that recommended a clam shell type clamp. With a reaction rod a lot of torque gets put on the barrel extension and index pin. With a clam shell it...

    18 to 16" 308 barrel swap help

I would never try to take a barrel off without removing the scope. I mean, it's so easy to do, why risk it? I would get an adjustable gas block for sure. Slr, superlative, jp, whatever. That way if your gas system length isn't perfect you can tune it. I don't think buffer will matter much with...

300 Blackout complete upper, build or buy

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but i have a related question. Can you form 1 a lower you already have to be designated as an sbr? And then, can you swap short barrel and non-short barrel uppers legally on that lower?

    A&D EJ-123 scale

I use a gem pro. I think it works better if you pick the pan up to trickle then set it back down. Kind of a pain, but it seems like it keeps the zero from wandering. You get used to it.

Vertical grips with thumb shelf good/bad and options?

I just ordered the ergo tactical deluxe zero vertical grip. I use my ambidextrous safety lever as a make shift "shelf". Works good as an index point. The ergo is a true ar15 grip, not a bolt action chassis grip, so it should work well with no modifications.

    The Fix from Q

Yeah, call it what you want. All rifles are switch barrel rifles. What separates them is the ability to swap bolt heads, which changes them into an entirely different class of rifle. That's my whole point. I have my main gun. It probably won't ever change except to replace barrels when it needs...

    The Fix from Q

My switch barrel rig will be a secondary gun for hunting or dicking around with. My primary rig is what it is and it will stay that way. I wish i could afford nice custom or semi custom guns in a lot of calibers, but i just can't bring myself to spend that kinda money. That's why the switch...

Wasn't aware of that. Good to know.

    The Fix from Q

Because as far as i know, the fix is the only gun that needs a short mag sr25 pattern magazine. It's a niche gun and i can't see anyone developing a product for such a small market unless it's Q themselves.

    The Fix from Q

This is why I'm going to build a custom instead of buy the fix later this year. I want a light and handy switch barrel rifle, but i want to be able to switch between 223 sized cartridges all the way up to short mags. Unless Q develops a magazine this will never be possible with the fix, which is...
