    223 Bolt Gun w/ 88 ELD-M Help

    I run Varget with the 88 eld out of a 24” barrel velocity is 2700 fps. That’s with a cci 450 primer and LC brass. Accuracy is very good and I feel I am at a comfortable pressure.

    I would try a 7.5 or cci 450 primer. Back the powder charge down about 3 grains and work up. My 88 grain load works good with Varget. If all else fails have your smith ream your chamber to a 223 Ackley Improved. That will get you the velocity you are looking for.

    Don’t forget how efficient electric heat is. Weather turns cold and your battery is drained in 150 miles. Unless you wear your snowmobile gear and leave the heater off. 😂

    A 120 grain Barnes tipped Tac-tx bullet will anchor a large whitetail with one shot in 300 BLk.

    I would disagree with the 7 twist if it’s for prairie dogs. The more explosive varmint bullets are going to do better with the 8 twist.
