    You can probably let it grow longer to 2.015. Check the longest case against the end of the chamber using a bore scope or the Sinclair chamber length tool. The book suggests trimming cases really short which leads to carbon rings.

    Anyone tried taking the spring out and compressing it by putting a book or something heavy on it for a while? Sounds like the spring is to strong or not enough room in the magazine chamber. Almost lot it needs to fit 1/2 a round more to make it function smoothly.

    Try measuring the loaded rounds CBTO and not COAL. Hornady is not the most consistent. I bet you see a lot of inconsistencies. Next use a comparator tool to measure the touch to the lands.     I would guess that this is lead deposits accumulating at the mouth of the chamber and as you shoot more and more the build up may not be allowing the brass to expand at the case mouth and causing the heavy bolt lift. Or it could be the lead at the mouth of the brass that is not allowing the case...

    bump the shoulder .001 min or .002 max. if you don’t have a heavy bolt lift the chamber shoulder is roughly .001 longer than fired case.
