    I'm no sure when exactly but AI swapped over from welding that part together to the large roll pin OP has. I had an old AI AE mkI from 93 I think.. it was welded. My AW is an 08 and is a roll pin. Wether or not it's the same part we would need to measure though.

    I really like this mod! I did a similar one using an AI buttpad and a crudely made aluminum spacer/adapter, but the downside is I have to be careful with it folded because said spacer will contact the rail. So my rifle is practically never folded now. This doesnt have that problem... Very nice.

    Some more work on my little buttpad mod and it looks 10x. Replaced the nuts with threaded inserts and sprayed it black. It looks better but is a funny contrast of great machine work (Q) and shitty (my drill press done elogated holes). But it works and feels 10x better.
