Info request: Out of the box accuracy - CZ455 vs Savage Mk II

A frustrating day at the range today. Shot six 5 shot groups (100m) and four of them were an inch or slightly under (Savage 93FVSS .22WMR with 6x20 Hawke Tactical Scope). Two at about 1.5" The frustrating part is knowing that I will likely not see a day that consistently good for months ;-(

    Fake Accessories - heads up

Agree with everything said. To reiterate...if it sounds to good to be true...it most likely is. In truth I have nothing against knockoffs if: -They are advertised as knockoffs. All the Rolex fakes come to mind, sold on websites like 'fakerolex.com' ...anyone who buys a watch from a website like...

Info request: Out of the box accuracy - CZ455 vs Savage Mk II

I had one of the variable brought home emphatically this weekend. I've always shot 5 shot groups...everything you read says (and their is scientific proof) that 5 shots gives a far better indication than 3. And 10 is better than 5...all the way up to about 30 shots at which point all the...

Info request: Out of the box accuracy - CZ455 vs Savage Mk II

FailureToStrart...just keep an open mind. I also have a .22 AR, and like you with a good red dot at 50 yds it shoots as well as a .223, especially when I'm shooting fast. But comparing my .22WMR and my Remington .308 at 100 yds is pretty depressing. But...if you do some research with ballistics...

    Disposing of bad ammo?

I've taken old unused ammo to my local police detachment...they've always taken it and as yet haven't asked for any ID.

Info request: Out of the box accuracy - CZ455 vs Savage Mk II

You may be in for a bit of a rude awakening FailureToStart. Check out some benchrest results. At 100yds .6 to .75" groups would be considered very good in a rimfire match, yet for any decent centerfire will do this without too much trouble. As MosesTheTank says, a lot of very reputable...

Info request: Out of the box accuracy - CZ455 vs Savage Mk II

armorpl8chikn, you need to bore us at every opportunity ;-) I truly feel for the new shooters who show up on this and other forums, asking what accuracy they can expect from their new Savage/CZ/Marlin, and read all the post from people claiming they shoot 1/2MOA all day long, with their eyes...

Info request: Out of the box accuracy - CZ455 vs Savage Mk II

As well as rimfire I compete in ISSF Olympic style 10m air rifle. I have yet to be in a competition where I get to not count 'the flyers'. Sorry, I see to many people post pics of a 5 shot group...3 shots of which are touching, the other two 1/2" or more away and say..."see, discount those two...

I'd also like to see the targetboard from the Savage shooting .75-1" at 100yds.

Would I just be wasting my money??

Thanks, that was the answer I was hoping to get. Every once and awhile I just get the itch to part with my hard earned dollars...sometimes (like this) unnecessarily.

Would I just be wasting my money??

Coyotes out to 150m with a .22WMR. I'll be shooting in hilly country. At 150m would there be enough angle to consider an angle cosine indicator? Or is it just a waste of $150.

    Expected Accuracy at 100 Yards?

That is so true. I can't begin to count how many times I've been at the range and listened to the shooter that claims he shoots sub 1moa with his out of the box .22 who then proceeds to shoot 2,3 or 4" groups. "Man it's windy" "Something must be wrong with my scope" "I'm having an off day" My...

    Poll: Dedicated Air Gun Area

Count me in. In Edmonton, Alberta, Nov to the beginning of March is pretty well a rite off for going to the range (just not dedicated enough to shoot in -30 weather...call me a wuss!!). I have a 10m range in my basement that gets a lot of use. As well my sons indoor archery range hosts a...

    I want a trainer. ---100 yards

bm11...don't do it. You'll go broke...but man, you'll have a lot of fun doing it. In actuality it hasn't seen much racing of late (the car was a works European GT2 Champion 35 odd years ago) as our local race track (I'm in Alberta) was paved over for new housing a few years back. But they are...

    Not happy with Kestrel!!!!!

Nope not really. I can't believe anyone here has not heard at some point in their life that you should take batteries out of electronic devices if you are not using them for extended periods because they can leak. It's like a 40 year old saying he wants to sue the tobacco company for his...
