I've suspected for a while that my buddy is the reason we lose touch not me.

Amen, Brother! I used to miss friends when they checked out, but not any longer. I realize what my time is worth. My wife had an issue recently with her relatives being shitty. I told her then - The best thing someone can ever do for you is to show you exactly how much they do or don't care...

I've suspected for a while that my buddy is the reason we lose touch not me.

Most everyone you know would come to a cookout at your house or meet you for a beer, especially if you're buying. I refer to those as "acquaintances" Some others might even help you out occasionally, but won't really go any extra distance. Maybe that't the friends folks are referring to. My...

    Ugly Outfit Contest

Hard to see the shirt, cause I'm covered with kids. Should I be lucky enough to be selected, I'm an XL in normal sizes, and 2XL in more "modern/Athletic" cut shirts.

Taylor Sheridan - an education in a 1-minute read....

We're not running out of water either. Silly rules regarding inter-basin transfers handicap usage where it is needed. Example - The Tennessee River flows past Chattanooga, TN at a typical rate of about 18 billion gallons per day. The city of Atlanta, about 90 miles south, has a water supply...

Captain's log- it's 12 DEC 2024 and my wife was right...

Wait till you test a high carbon, non-stainless knife, or something in an AEB-L steel (or similar). Wustof builds a great knife, but I stepped away from factory sets about 25 years ago and started adding individual knives made by folks who are really good at what they do. Some of mine are...

Pipeline workers use brass and copper hammers to avoid sparks. Copper hammers are expensive. You can buy an 8 lb steel sledge with a fiberglass handle for about $25. An 8 lb copper sledge is about $150. Harder than brass, non-sparking.

Taylor Sheridan - an education in a 1-minute read....

We don't have the electric infrastructure to run the country 100% at the current demand. Zero possibility that we could do so at triple the demand. When Doc Brown comes back from the future with Mr. Fusion, electric cars can make sense. Until then, oil will remain king.

Taylor Sheridan - an education in a 1-minute read....

I grew up in the oil industry and still sell to them. My first job at 18 was working in the pipe industry supplying pipelines, and I have been in every level of support for upstream, midstream, and downstream since. Only incorrect statement in his monologue is that we will run out. There's...

Maggie’s Christmas Riots 2024 Post Your Counter Terrorist Outfit

I'm in camo most of the time during the October-May time frame. It will make me harder to see, and as a bonus, I'm already carrying a significant weapon while wearing camo.

    Usps at its finest

I had a rifle shipped USPS (didn't realize that's how the seller was planning to ship it) on November 27. Last movement was Dec 1, and message is currently "In transit to destination - arriving late"

    Hunting Etiquette

So by your narrow definition, mountain lions who lie in wait by a deer trail aren't really hunting? Just sitting and hoping? Hawks who roost near bird feeders aren't really hunting, because they just sit and watch until time to strike? How about you do you, and not worry about anyone else? I...

    Pots and fucking pans

No burns, but when she shifted the pot, the bottom stuck just enough to cause the pan to tilt, and the aluminum poured onto the enameled steel top. Absolutely could have been tragic.

    Pots and fucking pans

Yup. My wife did this with a Revere Ware pan once, and I had to replace the metal top of the stove. It warped when the molten aluminum splashed on it as the pot was moved.

    What’s in a screen name

When I was younger and more agile, I had a reputation for wading the deepest and swiftest runs in pursuit of trout. I created my first online screen name with that about 25 years ago. Most other forums, I'm now Uncle Huck. I might change it here if I could figure out how to do it without losing...

    OT: Best toaster oven?

Ours is a Cuisinart, and we have been very happy with it. Owned it for about 12 years now. Actually, never had a bad Cuisinart product. One coffee maker died after about 6 years, and they replaced it at no cost.

How do you make Thanksgiving Stuffing?

We do cornbread dressing, not stuffing. Seasoned cornbread mixed with diced cooked celery, raw eggs, broth, and more chicken than you would think could fit. Bake at 375 F in it's own pan until firm, but still moist. Turkey cooks separate for numerous reasons, most of which were detailed above...
