rifle range doesn't allow targets shaped like a torso

In that situation there was no hostage. Even if there was, you aim where you want to hit. If you don't hit there, practice more. Besides, there are no ranges in San Jose which have moving hostage targets. Hostage target practice.....right...

Reloading press confessions...Dumb ass move while at the press.

Sizing and depriming is where it happens. I have a small scar on one finger tip which is about a 9mm radius. C type manual press, got into a rhythm, and was a little slow getting the new case into the shell holder before the other hand, on auto pilot, rammed the charging piston on the upstroke...

rifle range doesn't allow targets shaped like a torso

Chabot, despite enforcing the rule, I think knew how stupid it was. They had an amusing way or phrasing it in their printed rules. Something about "no human shaped targets, or ones shaped like former humans." You gotta know that at some point someone brought out one of those zombie targets :D :D

rifle range doesn't allow targets shaped like a torso

This is nothing new in the San Francisco Bay Area. Chabot, the best outdoor range in the area, had the same rule. I don't know if it was because they were on public land, or for insurance reasons, but it really didn't matter. If you're doing precision shooting you better be able to put the...

ATF trying to facilitate gun registration

FWIW, that alleged reference to a quote by Hitler has been proven false. Best not to keep floating it, it just makes one look bad. https://www.straightdope.com/columns/read/1791/did-hitler-ban-gun-ownership/ "OK, so the quote and cite are screwed up. What about the supposed law itself? Well...

Where would you move to from a future Socialist America?

I'm sure glad that none of you anti-socialists will be expecting to claim your Social Security benefits. Or Medicare. Leaves more for me.

Sidearms & Scatterguns 2020 COLT PYTHON

True. It would take a lot more than $1,500 to produce a modern copy of the original Python in terms of fit and finish, even if there were still people at the factory who could do it. I took at look at a King Cobra recently. Yes the trigger is decent. But I'd buy a used Colt Trooper II (which...

I've been asking questions. You know, to become better informed. That's not arguing. You might find this link informative. Definition of 'argue'

Remington M24 Special Run rifles only @ EuroOptic

I found the quote below here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sniper_rifle "In 1982, a U.S. Army draft requirement for a Sniper Weapon System was: "The System will: (6) Have an accuracy of no more than 0.75 MOA (0.2 mrad) for a 5-shot group at 1,500 meters when fired from a supported...

Remington M24 Special Run rifles only @ EuroOptic

Perhaps I'm missing your point, but: MOA is an angular measurement, essentially a cone. Average radius is a measurement of radius. I don't see them as being equivalent. But think you for the meaning of AMR; I'd been trying to find it and Google (being the worthless piece of crap that it has...

Google is your friend. Apparently Mean Radius was originally mentioned in Hatcher's Notebook. https://www.m4carbine.net/archive/index.php/t-64906.html At first glance it makes some sense. It seem to be noting the important observatio that the average is not necessarily a great measure, of...

Remington M24 Special Run rifles only @ EuroOptic

Three questions for anyone who's used an M24: 1. What did you do about cheek weld height? Duct tape over pipe insulation? 2. The 'wheel' in the stock for length of pull has always bugged me. First, how likely is it to get fouled by dust or dirt? Second, does it lock in place somehow so it...

@RemDef thank you for all the details. And thanks for fixing the website. Websites that list technical product details which are incorrect trigger me :D

Remington M24 Special Run rifles only @ EuroOptic

Fair point, but I've read (somewhere...) that even though the requirement was 1.1 moa, they actually tend to shoot much better than that. My 90's Remington VS in .308 shoots well under MOA when using Federal Gold Medal ammo. The only thing I did to it was polish the bore before and during the...

No call back form RemDef, but did get an email from Derek @ EuroOptic: "Thanks for asking about these M24's. The rifle sku is not found on Remington's website but effectively, it is the same as the one you saw with the scope and bipod...but without either. So it is the stainless barrel, 5rd...

The picture doesn't even show it has having a 2nd forward sling swivel, which seems odd in a tactical bolt action.

Has anyone ever converted a Remington long action from .308 to .300 win mag? I'd be a bit leery of just machining the bolt face to a larger diameter.
