    K31 Night Optic?

@Ledzep advertise it on a gaming platform? :giggle:

    Not terribly relevant but fun

The 10-22 RB, best version for real i.e., pest control work, in my opinion (when the barrel band is still on the firearm). Put about 500 rounds through it and then improve the trigger feel. Everything else is pretty much for ‘range toy’ purposes and that is fine, provided that the ‘range toy’...

Type in Armstrong Dual Range Sightmaster. Apparently a post WW2 product. Cannot tell you any more than that.

    Vintage Sniper Rifle Picture Thread

A determined and successful young lady. Nice to see. I suspect that she has you ‘under the thumb’ and ‘wrapped around her little finger’. Good to see her wearing quality earmuffs. Has she told you what colour Peltor Kidz earmuffs you are going to buy her🙂? Cheers from NZ🇳🇿!

    Vintage Sniper Rifle Picture Thread

Yes, I positively identified the first three and was waiting for a precise ID on the Remington actioned rifles, given the variety of replicas and rebuilds out there. Very nice collection. Good to see the NM149 in two stock colours. Was that a police versus army thing or evolving fashion? P.S...

    M38/M96 6.5x55 project

@verdugo60 If you start with an M38 be aware that the Husqvarna actions are reputed to have significantly greater surface hardness than the original Mauser and Carl Gustav actions. You might have to spot-anneal the intended hole locations.

Seriously beautiful bush rifle. Thank you for showing it to us.

Hunting & Fishing Your “go to” hunting rifle?

I seem to recall that the Rhodesian Army and possibly the South African Defence Force had some issues during firefights. Nevertheless, you can get an impressive flame from a 22” 6.5x55 SE rifle. I have seen an approximate 200mm flame on a bright sunny day.

Hunting & Fishing Your “go to” hunting rifle?

I would leave the barrel length as is. Muzzle blast and flame will be less. Save your ears and avoid starting bush fires. Also much better for iron sight use.

Help please. Need Siamese Mauser follower

It might be easier to find someone who will agree to have their magazine follower professionally 3D scanned so that you can have a replica printed. Car restorers have started doing this for unobtainable parts like exterior door handles for rare cars.

Hunting & Fishing Your “go to” hunting rifle?

I thought that sight was for taking aim at uneducated customers and selling them garbage like GLCs with ‘built-in at the factory’ tyre scrub? 🙂

Hunting & Fishing Your “go to” hunting rifle?

I have done that for goats but my ZG 47 in .30-06 is a hell of a lot lighter than an SLR L1A1 and the scope is a 4x so not too heavy. I was trained to read a map, navigate across country and judge distances. I do not need to carry a range finder or other extraneous varmint style kit. For bush...

Two hours or more to a hut or fly camp spot. Maybe 4 hours the next day, interspersed with glassing and the odd doze.

    Kids Rifle and Scope

A good second hand Weaver 4x Classic 4x38 (update of the aluminium K4) would be a safe bet. The advertised* eye relief is genuine and therefore greater than any Leupold 4x ever made (even the 3.6x28 M8 4X that went out of production circa 1990?) and YES, I know that from personal experience. *...

    6.5 X 54 Mannlicher Schoenauer wannabe sniper

I said awkward for me. I like the action itself but the bolt handle is too far forward for me, unless I take the rifle off my shoulder and move it back each time I need to operate the action. Have fun🙂!

    6.5 X 54 Mannlicher Schoenauer wannabe sniper

I would adjust the stock and stay with open sights unless ... you want to give a whole lot of dollars to NECG:)! Those actions are too awkward for me but every example is beautifully made.

The German WW2 standard rifle ammo had a .56 g1 bc

Hornady make a hollow point boat tail. I suspect that they copied the legendary discontinued Norma HPBT.

The German WW2 standard rifle ammo had a .56 g1 bc

The performance of that ammo is why I have suspected for a while that one U.S. motivation for insisting on a .30 cal NATO round was to prevent the 7.92x57sS round from becoming the standard NATO medium machine gun i.e. the standard support company, tank etc machine gun. It was already the...
