Admiral Willis 'Ching' Lee - The Ultimate Sharpshooter

Just having fun, mate. No point in mentioning something like that, without showing your obvious pride in your club's achievements.

Admiral Willis 'Ching' Lee - The Ultimate Sharpshooter

@TorF Subtle is your middle name? 🙂

    Ssg 69 accuracy

@TorF Thanks for that info. Given that 1 moa @300m = 87.27 mm … 10 shots within 100mm @300m in the 1970s is not too shabby for what was later known as the SSG 69 P I.

    Strange Leupold scope

    Jealous, much!

    Strange Leupold scope

Takes a while to run people through a 50 meter Running Boar layout, even if you have a two position setup (for easy changeover of shooters) and a crew of two in the butts. You would need two Running Boar ranges (side by side, with central axes about 50 metres apart; and a suitable barrier in...

    I am getting old…

As a carpenter I have, as you would expect, several jobs to do around the house. I note that @sirhrmechanic has some years’ overdue rust removal, rust priming and painting to do around his deck BUT other steel items such as cannons and small arms are clearly taking precedence. 🙂

Another hole filled in the collection, Swedish M41 / AGA44

Nice acquisition. Also a great way to differentiate gun tragics like us from the ordinary shooters at a Range!

    Parker Hale M82 Clone

The way it goes sometime. I picked up several hundred rounds of WW2 aircraft ammo i.e., red band .30-06 to shoot in my ZG47. It was perfectly accurate and reliable in my rifle but a guy with an M1 Garand experienced several misfires with the same batch. I plan to reload those cases at some stage...

    Parker Hale M82 Clone

Thank you. The rifle looks even better in the extra images. I have always liked the Bushnell 10x as a practical sighting telescope BUT it is limited to 1/4 minute of arc adjustments, in catalogue form. I spend enough time doing maths as a carpenter to prefer the simplest (most error-proof)...

Looks like a serious piece of kit. The stock looks good and extremely practical. More images please.

    .303 BSA Sporter/Lee-Speed

@Son of Dorn You clearly have a nice, special rifle. If you want to know more about Lee Speed rifles, I suggest that you go to the Africa Hunting forum and look up von Gruff’s posts. You will appreciate the knowledge that he brings to the subject and the images of work that he has done on his...

    .303 BSA Sporter/Lee-Speed

Beautiful rifle. Worth every penny you paid, if the inside is as good as the outside. True hunting (as opposed to a carry it on the quad, long range, hope the carcass isn’t flyblown by the time you get there) rifle. More images, please.

The weirdest rifle I have ever owned.

Thirty odd years ago I belonged to a club where one guy with a Marlin Midget Magnum regularly outshot everyone else in .22 Rimfire positional competitions, even the experienced shooters with Anschuetz Match 54, Remington 541T, etc. Results count.

Some Vintage Gunsmithing because BuffaloWinter can't have all the fun...

@sirhrmechanic That was some horrible DIY gluing. Repair work is looking good. As a carpenter, I advise that Bessey NOT ‘Bessie’ is correct. Did the automatic spell checker/messer catch you out. 🙂

    Cz457 10 Round Magazine 22lr / When???

Type Brno and CZ 10 round magazines into your search engine. Even in NZ someone always has them in stock.

    Swedish Mauser?

You can easily make snap caps with fired resized cases. Seat a bullet in each case and fill the primer pockets with cyanoacrylate (super glue) OR if you are mixing up general purpose two part epoxy for carpentry work, use some of that. The latter option is better because the product is less...

    22lr twist rate advantages

I recall that a Scandinavian suppressor manufacturer actually made suppressors that screwed into the barrel i.e., the muzzle thread was in a recessed muzzle. There was a demo .22lr rifle fitted with that suppressor model here in NZ but the product was never launched on our market. I suspect that...

    Old Federal Rimfire Case Fail

Bottom end Federal ammo, that has been stored for quite a while, sometimes has that issue BUT typically when used in a generous sporting rifle chamber. The NZ Army bought some Federal Champion 40? grain (red lettering on a white box) and kept it a bit too long before selling it off. I used it...

    22lr twist rate advantages

A local gun industry guy had a factory tour of the Aguila plant. He said that the 60 grain ammo was being loaded on the standard .22 Short line and powder (smokeless propellant to be precise) was falling out of the cases as they moved along. That being said, they shot reliably out to 20m BUT I...
