Nope. You got to go about 2 hours south to get to this bridge. Would have been more accurate to say southern Oregon coast for the location of this bridge.

Places You've Worked But Are Now Shut Down

Worked retail for a few years at GI Joe's. Was a NW chain of stores that is long gone now. Tell people it was a great job because I got to talk about hunting and fishing all day but the pay could have been better. Weyerhaeuser facility that is now just a small log mill. When I started there...

Tree wasn't as big as I thought. Closer to 24 inches on the stump. Anyway, we have had some dry weather so was able to get it cut up and a brush pile built. Neighbor with a skid steer that has a grapple bucket will haul the brush to his burn pile. I am working on getting the blocks hauled...

    Good garden idea?

I found a great deal on galvanized steel roofing material last year, 8 and 12 foot lengths, that I used to build this beds. They are 8 feet long, 3 feet wide and just over 2 feet tall. First three I framed using peeler cores. Was a PIA and took a long time to put together with those so the...

Not Mormons. They do not display a cross on any of their buildings. Nor do they wear anything that has a cross on it.

I met Chuck in the early 80's when he was working for my father-in-law at the Forest Service. Had no clue about his history as a sniper until almost 20 years later. Asked my FIL about it and he said Chuck had told him about his service but at the time didn't want others to know. Had a chance...

I remember reading a magazine article written by Elmer. He said the 7mm Rem. mag was a good varmint cartridge and that was about it. His preferred elk round was a 375 H&H. Said he saw too many elk run off when shot with less calibers.

This time of the year, the falls are almost dry. Best time of the year to view them are during the spring run off. Picture from my daughter taken about a month ago.

    Jury Duty

Did jury duty 35 years ago and seated for a civil case and a criminal case. Got a summons about 8 years ago when living in Idaho. Was scheduled for two weeks around Thanksgiving, never had to go in. Retired and in Oregon now. Would love to get a summons now. Wife did about 18 months ago so...

Maggie’s Machining and woodworking for guns

@turbo_bird Seeing that the under cut is radiused, I though it had not been relieved. When I did mine, it was more squared off. Most I saw at the time were like that. Note what I saw was from magazine pictures as there was no internet back then. I have a Rock Island double stack 1911 and it...

Maggie’s Machining and woodworking for guns

@turbo_bird Good looking work. Checkering a front strap on a 1911 is not easy. Main spring housing is a lot easier. Curious why you didn't do a relief under the trigger guard where it blends into the front strap? Would allow for a slightly higher grip on the gun. I did this work on mine...

Dry, arid, sage brush covered land. Most of what you can see from highway before you get to "town" looks like dump locations for old RVs. Only 95 miles to Bend for a larger city. Land is still cheap 2.4 acre lot

Maggie’s The Woodchuck and Firewood Hoarders Thread

Here near the SW Oregon coast we have had a lot of rain and now strong winds. Neighbor had a tree go down overnight, probably about 30 inches in diameter at the base. Will be summer before another neighbor and I can work on it as this yard has water flowing through it all winter. While the...

    Oregon passes Measure 114

Spent most of the day listening to this hearing yesterday. Two main parts of the testimony was when were multi shot guns developed, were they available to the public and were they common in use. Second part of the testimony was availability of 10 round magazines and ease of altering them...

    Maggie’s What's Your View II

Ice fishing is one thing I really miss about Idaho. Lots of fun and a great way to deal with a cold winter. We could run 5 rods per person which at times caused a real circus when 2 or 3 were getting bits at the same time. How many rods can you use at a time?
