    Carrying weapon> Duty to Inform...

About 15 years ago got stopped in Kemmerer WY for being 5 mph over the limit. Saw the deputy on the side of the road when I came around the corner, knew I was going too fast and when he pulled out, I pulled over. Had my 3 sons and a nephew with me. He asked where we were going. Told him to...

Maggie’s The Woodchuck and Firewood Hoarders Thread

Don't know much about the various Stihl saws but know the brand is good to go. Picked up a MS 260 about 5 years ago from my brother in law who runs a pawn shop. Needed a saw, looked at what he had and choose the 260. We started it outside and it ran fine. Couldn't beat the price as he sold it...

Dear Poor people bringing your poor people children to my neighborhood to Trick or Treat

Halloween is not what it used to be. Back in the 60's my grandparents spent days getting ready for trick or treaters by making candied apples. Always had big turn outs at their home. Sadly home made treats are long gone now to give out.

Maggie’s The Woodchuck and Firewood Hoarders Thread

Bought a load of logs for firewood. Mix of maple, alder, myrtle and doug fir. With restrictions due to fire danger limiting opportunities to go cut wood and the distance to travel to get wood (and gas locally at $5.40 a gallon), this works for me.

Anyone Making Money on a Small Acreage Parcel?

Raise goats? LOL. Friends had goats to clear land they owned just outside of Florence. Worked well until the bears figured out the goats made an easy meal. Orchard? Only if you fence it with an 8 foot fence and ideally have several large dogs to keep deer out. This is from last year under...

Anyone Making Money on a Small Acreage Parcel?

For the type of property you are looking for, it is very likely it will be covered with timber. Selective logging may be an option or cutting firewood. Any type of development on the property for commercial use is likely to be a permit nightmare, at least in Oregon. Edited to add, if you find...

Man Accused Of Starting Wildfires In Oregon Tied To A Tree By Residents

Good for the locals to stop this guy and detain him. Jerk was lucky all that happened to him was to 'fall down'. This happened in a part of Oregon that is very conservative and locals won't put with that type of crap.

Price Check in the Gas and Diesel Aisle...

I have a 2006 Jetta with the BRM 1.9 L engine and the DSG 6 speed auto transmission. Drove from SW Oregon to SW Missouri and back last fall and averaged over 40 mpg doing 75+ mph. Has 235K miles on it now. Did replace the camshaft at 190k miles and did an ERG delete at the time. Have a...

Price Check in the Gas and Diesel Aisle...

Here in SW Oregon, gas dropped about 11 cents a gallon this week, now $4.59 a gallon. Diesel is still $5.35. Was in the California bay area a couple of weeks ago. Paid $5.19 at Costco for regular. Other stations were $5.69 to $5.99 a gallon.

    Raising rabbits for meat.

Years ago, wife and daughter started raising rabbits for 4H. Grew into a business of raising and selling show Rex rabbits. Keeping only the best quality rabbits meant butchering those that didn't make the grade. Did this for about 13 years until the feed we were using poisoned the rabbits...

    Seven bite the dust.

About 7 years ago in SE Idaho there was a family of 4 who died of carbon monoxide poisoning. Cause was the dad replaced a natural gas water heater with a tankless water heater but did not change out the exhaust pipes. Turns out the tankless systems needs a much larger exhaust system than a...

We got any drivers here? How do you keep from falling asleep?

If you go about about 30 miles north of Pittsburg, you can stop in at Fort Scott Munitions. Interesting store and they will tell you all the virtues of solid bullets. https://fortscottmunitions.com/ As for long drives, for me audio books, salty snacks and non sweetened ice tea to drink...

We're leaving and fuck you anyway.

Moved back to Oregon after 24 years in Idaho. While Coos county is very conservative, would like to be "back in Idaho" without having to endure the cold, snowy winters. Too bad we didn't get to vote on this.

Coos Bay OR vs Reno NV area Shooting facilities

Moved back to Oregon 2 years ago, now live south of Coos Bay. Other than for shotguns for trap or sporting clays, there are no gun ranges in this area. Two gun ranges if you don't mind driving some are in Florence and Grants Pass. Florence is about an hour north and you must be a member to...
