Range Report USMC twist rate test?

I was listening to the aussie precision pod cast where they interviewed Todd Hodnett. I'm pretty sure he was saying he consults to the military and he was the person pushing them to go with the fast and faster twists. Frank can probably confirm that. The current F class open world champ from...

200 yd groups not what expected

Frank do you recommend shooting at 200 instead of 100 when evaluating loads? I personally consider myself a 1moa shooter at 100 in that I can usually put 10 shots in 1inch at 100. Sure I have "3 shot groups" that have measure 0.143 inches but over 10 shots tells the truth. All "flyers" must...

The airing of grievances and the response.

I don't know If anyone else noticed in that podcast that when they were talking about that "other" podcast that went for 60mins about this topic. The guy asked are these guys (frank) the top shooters or something to that affect and the answer was basically along the lines of no it's just a...

    MORE 224 VALK

After to listening to franks thoughts on the valk an seeing the video I got a bit interested this looks like a good bit cheaper to run then my 6.5x47l. I do question @Lowlight barrel life claims of 5000-6000 I realise you stated someone who is at 5000 rounds still shooting well but I think we...

The airing of grievances and the response.

I listen to all franks podcasts I'm in Australia and I find this whole situation a bit of a joke. I don't know if its an American thing or just a PRS thing (I love Americans please don't take that the wrong way) but every amateur sport Ive ever done here in Australia and Ive done a few competed...

Anyone Running a 7 Mag to aMile?

In certain states I'm not sure if they are allowed to be shot, in my state they are/were I haven't shot kangaroos in a long time. There are certainly areas where they over populate and eat everything are considered a pest on many farms. The big farms usually have contract "roo shooters". The...

Anyone Running a 7 Mag to aMile?

You and me both!!! I live in Australia and let me tell you there is only a Very tiny percentage of shooters who have access to land like that and I'm not one of them. Australia should be the ideal place to shoot ELR yet its not. We have a country the same size pretty much as continental US...

Rifle Scopes Val has made the IOR Recon even better

Do you have any vested interest in pushing IOR scopes or for any of the scopes that you review? I personally enjoy your scope review videos, you do mention a UK company a bit (cant remember name?) so made me question this. thanks

Rifle Scopes Valdada IOR Scopes? Are their scopes any good?

I've never used or seen any these premium scopes and never will I live remote and will have to order over the net. From all accounts march is very highly regarded in the f class and bench rest world but not quite as well liked in the prs/snipers hide world.

Rifle Scopes Valdada IOR Scopes? Are their scopes any good?

I hear what your saying mate your situation does sounds similar to mine. I'm down here in Australia and like you we pay a premium for scopes and anything gun related usually sometimes twice what the US pays. I have found some company's price better relative to the US then others. For example...

Rifle Scopes Valdada IOR Scopes? Are their scopes any good?

I found that video on youtube and actually put a post up here about a month or so ago asking if anyone knew of him etc who could vouch for his credibility. Didn't generate much response I imagine you would have to go to the UK forums to finds more. I believe he has some kind of interest with...

Range Report Light vs heavy bullets

I don't know really I guess it bugs me that I see this information such as the lighter bullet will drift less at closer distances etc when they are not really apples and apples comparison. Or the statement such and such bullet is too heavy for a certain case ie a 215g is too heavy for a .308 or...

Range Report Light vs heavy bullets

I found this when searching for this topic this is exactly what I was trying to say but put into better words. This was posted by laurie from Great Britain who is a very well respected in F class shooting both in GB and the US. This can also be applied to the 6.5x47L example I gave comparing a...

Range Report Light vs heavy bullets

I'm not familiar with .338 bullets but guessing maybe the form factor (ie bc relative to weight) of the .230eld x is much better than the 300g smk? Hard to get a form factor on sierra bullets as they don't list G7. If the form factor was the same/similar ie if there was a 300g eld x that was a...

Range Report Light vs heavy bullets

Yup I already stated this is not comparable to solids. I'm comparing a similar designed bullet in different weight class eg a 123 ELD M or 130 ELD M vs a 147ELD M pushed to equivalent muzzle energy/pressure. My question is are the calculators wrong? Because the statement the faster bullet...

Range Report Light vs heavy bullets

Dan this is what confuses me are the ballistic calculators not allowing for this fact? Because like in the examples I gave (not talking about your solids which is a different beast) a 123g bullet when pushed to x pressure/muzzle energy is beaten by a 147g bullet when pushed to the same...
