    Leaving ammo behind

Yes it can be, depends on the agency and what section of each agency. There are many individual officers that take it seriously. But firearms skills is just one of the skills they need.

What is generally considered the most precise semi-auto rifle?

My last "precise" 308 win semi auto was a M1A. I have a STG-58 now built on an Imbel receiver. But I mostly use my AR15's for actual hunting out to 500 yards, maybe 600 yards. Steel out to 800 yards but I can't see the splash.

Big Magnum Revolver, what is just right?

However I should say I gave my buddy my S&W M29 so now I carry my S&W 686 4". It's my go to for snake, coyote, cougar, black bear, wolves, and two legged varmints in the woods.

Big Magnum Revolver, what is just right?

My limit WAS a S&W Model 29 4". I carried that in Alaska stoked with 300 gr hardcast WFN bullets. 45 LC would be another good one handloaded hot. Sure their are bigger but for me as a working bear defense handgun to augment a rifle that's my pick.

    Leaving ammo behind

It's probably faster to dump the mag and run up to the next section to fire from in this case. And that's where it's a game. For me I'd either reload prior to moving to the next section and fire on the move. Many times I'd get a penalty for doing this as they would want me to fire from a...

    6.5 Staball disappointing

My ES isn't great with a lot in the 20 fps plus area. I'm wondering if more neck tension might help to low the ES. A Lee Factory Crimp die might help. Unfortunately they don't make the one I need... a 260 AI.

    Leaving ammo behind

Shooting matches are just a game. Using stress to train should be force on force, not a clock. The other stuff like movement, multiple target scenarios, ete is just combative markmanship at best. And doesn't need stress. Stress in that type of training probably is detrimental imo.

    Leaving ammo behind

The sad fact back when I helped train law enforcement twenty years ago they got more driving classes than firearms training. It was really up to the individual officer to gain more skills.

    Leaving ammo behind

Newhall Incident. The beginning of modern law enforcement firearms training reform. Some of those reports have been called out as untrue. I haven't delved deep into it or confirmed any findings...

    Leaving ammo behind

I had that same argument about many things at various competitions. I took the penalty and didn't even bother doing it their way as long as it was safe. Like you said keeping those rounds is best since you may need them. But if dropped better to focus on the task at hand rather than worry about...

    The backfire hunting challenge.

I brought up that point on another forum. no one gave two shits. I fully agree with you though. Why would you do that to someone you cared about and then use it for click bait. Not someone I'd want to associate with.

REM 9 1/2 primers in M118lr clone load?

Yeah my original IMR 4064 41.2gr over a 168gr SMK was around 2500 fps 24" barrel. I might something like that in my FAL STG-58.

REM 9 1/2 primers in M118lr clone load?

Yeah I missed the window for Retumbo and H1000. I needed a pocket EDC since the crime spiked in my local very rural area. So that ate up my powder funds. I'll try to remember to pm you my findings with Staball HD. Here's my Remarms 700 7mm RM thread on LRH...

REM 9 1/2 primers in M118lr clone load?

I got an accurate fire forming load for my 7mm RM using RL22 and 180 gr ELDM's. But I only had about 1/2-3/4 lb left. Now I got to do a load work up with Staball HD. The only powder I could get. Now there aren't many powders out there :(

REM 9 1/2 primers in M118lr clone load?

They seem to be like people, they like what they like lol. I could never get Varget to work in my PSS. As a side note an old can of IMR 4064 sent some 168gr ELDMs over 2800 fps with a mid charge load. I was glad I had a chronograph to alert me of the velocities. I've had that can for maybe 20...

REM 9 1/2 primers in M118lr clone load?

That's pretty close to my old Sierra's "Accuracy" load in my bolt rifle. IMR 4064 41.2 gr, Fed brass, Fed 210 primer. It was slow but very accurate.

REM 9 1/2 primers in M118lr clone load?

I think I'd call Hodgdon and see if the have AA 4064 "Service Rifle" load data. In other powders their Service Rifle load data seems to be a couple of grains less than their "Standard" or regular 308 Win load data. In my bolt rifles the Rem 9 1/2 seem slower than the Fed 210's I like to run...

I have the same issue with the pic rail on my rifles. I'm going to cut the excess extension off mine so I can move the scopes back.
