    Malfunction question

Sounds as plausible as anything. Was a reloaded round (Federal primer). I run a second cleaning of brass after resizing brass to get rid of residual lubricant. Possible that a piece of corn cob got stuck in the primer hole after that second cleaning, and then I pressed a primer on top of it...

Is something going on in Ukraine?

Interesting that a road sign on a country road in Ukraine would read in English as a second language.

    Malfunction question

These were handloads, but they were not part of my test batch. I'd just completed testing, and I was firing off some "extras" from previous loads that I may not have measured correctly and had set aside. I didn't think they were hot, but I was wrong. Big mistake. I have a bullet puller on...

    Malfunction question

    Seems more plausible, agreed.

Is something going on in Ukraine?

Question was directed @babyguppy, who predicted that China would invade Taiwan if Republicans win mid-terms "before they get sworn in" but will wait 1.5 years if Dems win. I'm interested in reasons why.

Is something going on in Ukraine?

This. Germany, France, you’ve sanctioned your oil supply. Dismantled your coal and nuclear production. Winter is coming. Do you have a plan?

Is something going on in Ukraine?

What’s your reasoning on your Republican/Democrat calculus?

    Malfunction question

Extractor is missing. Don't know if it flew out with the spring and pin, or if it just fell, and I couldn't find it in the gravel. Something hit my cheek (on the cheek weld) when I pulled the trigger.

    Malfunction question

I extracted the round. Looks like the primer got burnt, but otherwise the bullet did not fire. Will take to a gunsmith to sort out. Thank you.

    Malfunction question

Looks like the Extractor is missing. Plus a lot of carbon. And I have either a case stuck in the chamber, or a complete round. Not how I remember it, but looks like a total shit show.

    Malfunction question

Nothing too interesting happened. Had been shooting for the afternoon testing loads. Everything functioning normally. On one of the last rounds, the bolt didn't want to close, I removed the round, checked it. Seemed the primer was very slightly above the case. I shot a couple other rounds that...

    Malfunction question

Curious if anyone has an idea what happened or what may be the cause. Pulled the trigger on a tikka CTR. Felt a click, but no fire. Instead, a tiny spring and pin flew out the back of my action and hit me in the cheek. Safety is now locked. Bolt will not close.

    Tempest comparison?

Pretty well sold on this now. Seems to check every box for me. I like also that it accepts the AW mags. Looks very nice. Also had a chance to handle a Defiance Tenacity today at the range. Very solid. Though manufactured by different companies, my impression is the Tempest shares some DNA...

.308 barrel length, twist, powder burn rate, bullet gr interactions

This is good to hear. I was under a misconception on burn rate, and as a result, under a mistaken impression that a slow burn powder in combination with a short-to-medium length barrel would not work so well. Corrected in the OP.

.308 barrel length, twist, powder burn rate, bullet gr interactions

Hit steel. Try to stay outside transonic.

.308 barrel length, twist, powder burn rate, bullet gr interactions

Newer projectiles: check. How would a 22" or 20" barrel interact with a slower powder like VV N150? Is it meant for a longer barrel, or still good?

.308 barrel length, twist, powder burn rate, bullet gr interactions

"Carry" --just shorthand for a more handy, though not necessarily light rifle that I can more comfortably carry. I have a 300WM, 26" barrel that I took on a hunt once, and regretted it. Primary interest is the range, but I don't want it a range-only rifle.

.308 barrel length, twist, powder burn rate, bullet gr interactions

I'd like to build a carry .308 that can consistently reach out to 1027yds (my range). There are going to be trade-offs for sure, so I'd like to try to get a clearer handle of what I should be looking for in an overall system that combines barrel length, twist, bullet gr, and powder burn choices...
