    Rifle Scopes FFP or SFP

Use case and implementation are everything. Being FFP or SFP doesn't make a scope good or bad. That said, I certainly prefer FFP. But if you asked me whether I prefer (for example), a Tango6 w/ FFP horseshoe reticle vs a Razor w/ JM-1 for multi-gun, I'd go with the Razor for other reasons than...

    Rifle Scopes Bushnell CS Slipping?

Yeah, PFI did something similar to me where they swapped out my PFI RR-800-1 (Japanese-made) for a RR-EVO 3-12x (Chinese-made). Same issue - canted reticle after a not-crazy firing schedule on a 308. Definitely a WTF moment for me on the range while I tried to figure out what happened. I had...

Rifle Scopes Vortex Razor HD Gen III 1-10x

The MOA/BDC reticle is not going to work well with a barrel that short. It's calibrated more along the lines of 18" barrel velocities. If you are running with the mil reticle, I think it'd be fine, you would just need to memorize your holdovers. Whether you're going to shoot far enough you need...

Rifle Scopes NF Atacr 1-8 vs vortex gen 3 1-10

What velocity was that VMAX? Agree that it's clear this scope was calibrated for an 18" barrel.

Rifle Scopes NF Atacr 1-8 vs vortex gen 3 1-10

I've run it through Strelok a few ways, and some loads that really look like they match pretty well are M193 @ 3150fps, M855 @ 3000 fps, 69gr SMK @ 2850fps, and 77gr SMK @ 2750fps. Hot take is that it's really designed around hot lighter loads out of an 18" barrel. The heavier stuff is probably...

Rifle Scopes LPVO to mount on 6920...need help deciding..

C-More C3. Right at the top of your $800 price range (look for a discount code online), but it's got a crazy good rep.

Rifle Scopes Vortex Razor HD Gen III 1-10x

Carry extra batteries. Quality 2032s are not expensive, and we're talking about $2000 optics on what I assume are similarly not-cheap rifles. I just can't see how this "problem" is so make-or-break.

Rifle Scopes Vortex Razor HD Gen III 1-10x

Why would anyone run this optic on 1x with no illumination, though? The fact that you can crank the brightness and run it like a red dot is a huge selling point.

I can't be the only who winced when they saw that drop test. Held up nicely, though. I also really liked the review.

Rifle Scopes SIG Alpha2 one piece mounts?

Yeah, I've had one in my hands from a trade, and it was just a bog standard one-piece mount. Not a bad mount by any stretch, it had good machining and finish, but I don't know why I'd buy it over a Warne or whatever.

Rifle Scopes Vortex Gen III 1-10 Review

Ordered mine from MKM, no shipping notice yet. They did tell me they received a few from Vortex, so they're trickling out.

    Rifle Scopes Burris Rt8

Someone on ARFCOM posted up about the FFP version. Sounded like they were on the better end of Chinese scopes (good glass, not daylight bright illumination), but still a little marginal for $500. Probably pretty good if you got them for $330 on mil discount.

Rifle Scopes Vortex Gen III 1-10 Review

@PBWalsh What's the illumination like on the Eotech? The thing I like about the Razors is the illumination for red-dot-esque usage at 1x. Very few FFP scopes can pull it off so that it's usable on a sunny day on a bright target. (For that matter, many RFPs can't, either.) ETA: oops, I see you...

Rifle Scopes Vortex Gen III 1-10 Review

Great review! I didn't notice the semi-transparent circle segments before, but that's a very clever touch by Vortex. I also went with the MOA reticle since I am going to be using it for multi-gun on an AR. Just waiting for MK Machining to ship it. I was made a believer when I handled one at...

    Rifle Scopes Burris Rt8

I'd be slightly surprised if they had any left; they've been on close-out pricing for quite a while at a few different places. (I think Cameraland had them for $699 at one point?) That said, the SMRS is still available for $680, if you can tolerate a mil-reticle instead of BDC.

    Rifle Scopes Burris Rt8

I cancelled my order after they revealed the Chinese origin. Not gonna play games with Chinese LPVOs for $500. Too many better options for that money, or not a lot more money.

    Rifle Scopes Burris Rt8

They're out. They weren't lying about there being only 30 each of these. When I just checked, there were 12 left of the AR SFP version, and 27 of the 4A reticle.

    Rifle Scopes Burris Rt8

I grabbed the FFP, too. I imagine they are comparable to the PST Gen II more than the RT-6, especially if production costs were high enough that $499 wasn't a high enough MSRP for them. I'll probably put it on my 5.45x39 AR to replace the Bushnell 1-4x FFP on it... Strelok says the BDC should...

Rifle Scopes Who has switched from red dot to 1x prism?

Someone needs to put out a 1x prism that uses battery-powered fiber optic illumination. That would be a game changer in terms of really making them competitive with red dots. Bonus points if they use Micro-style mounts. I saw someone reference the Vortex Spitfire 1x as "daylight bright", and...

    Rifle Scopes SHOT 2020

Swung by Burris on my way to the press room (forgot they were co-located with Steiner). Bad news: the RT-8 scopes are not coming out any time soon. Marketing confusion was cited as the reason. I asked how they thought they could fail to market a $800 DFP 1-8x scope successfully, and didn't...
