This is how IMMINENT CASEHEAD SEPARATION looks!

Re: This is how IMMINENT CASEHEAD SEPARATION looks! Thanks turbo54 – that helps a lot. I think you are right about not being able to produce a consistent 0.001” bump – I have tried and have measure them with a headspace gauge afterward and they do vary some. Still, I aim for 2 since mine...

Few questions about runout and OCW development

Re: Few questions about runout and OCW development Your problem may lie in the fact that you cannot seat 55 gr bullets out to the lands in most chambers since they are just too short. For reliable operation, the case neck should grip at least a caliber length of the bullet.

    Krestrel 4500 NV eating batteries?

Re: Krestrel 4500 NV eating batteries? I think if you read my post carefully, nowhere do I complain about batter cost. My point is to alert other users that even when your battery says it is OK, there could easily be a problem lurking. BTW, I hope you don’t try to recalibrate you compass...

    Krestrel 4500 NV eating batteries?

Re: Krestrel 4500 NV eating batteries? Was out this last weekend at a precision rifle class and the Krestrel went belly up. The batteries had over 70% charge before I left and I had only started to use it when this happened. I took the batteries out and notice the start of corrosion on one...

    Lead Exposure??

Re: Lead Exposure?? Read my post above, the lead you should worry about comes from the primer. The compound in quesion is lead styphnate. Do a Google seach to see toxic effects.

    Lead Exposure??

Re: Lead Exposure?? The problem with lead is it is always distorted by both sides of the fence and so one does not know who to believe. There is lead and there is other lead. The lead that you have to watch out for is not from your bullets but from the primer. The primer compound are lead...

Using a chrono at extended ranges?

Re: Using a chrono at extended ranges? I am sure there are good reasons to do it, but to me it’s a chancy proposition since even if you are a good shot i.e. no problem with tight groups, you have to be able to get that chrono lined up between the bore and the target which can be difficult...

Re: Enlarged Primers Pockets--/ What is the cause? That is the answer. My understanding is that Fed brass from FGMM are only good for one reload. I only use Win brass which I keep track of the number of reloads.

Leica 1600 vs Leupold RX-1000i DNA rangefinder

Re: Leica 1600 vs Leupold RX-1000i DNA rangefinder A couple of corrections for your data. The Leica actually calculates and compensates for angles and the ballistic program is actually easy to use. You just need to know your dope and find the one that fits it best and choose it. It is GTG...

    OWC test vs. Ladder

Re: OWC test vs. Ladder These are all good techniques BUT you have to understand one thing first and that is for this to work, you still need: 1) Good shooting techniques. 2) A precision rifle that is capable of MOA or less size groups. 3) Good reloading technique which allows you to...

What are the different ways to Anneal brass?

Re: What are the different ways to Anneal brass? That is precisely the problem. I brought the sticks thinking you could do what you suggested. The reality is that the sticks don’t “draw” at all and the only way I have found you could use it is to touch the brass after you heat it up.

What are the different ways to Anneal brass?

Re: What are the different ways to Anneal brass? Thanks! Appreciate you help! I have the Tempilstick but they don't work well for me. Their description gives you the idea that they are crayons which you can use to "paint" on the item you are testing but actually they require you to write...

What are the different ways to Anneal brass?

Re: What are the different ways to Anneal brass? I saw a video demonstrating with a temperature sensing fluid - something called "tempalac" or something like that in a green bottle but that name is incorrect as I cannot find it using Google. Does someone know the correct name of the product?
