    What calibers have you tried? I took my first deer with the .223 Fusion, and got good results. No exit, went off in the chest cavity like a grenade. Wondering if you've tried .308

    On my Bergara with a 20 inch barrel, 41.7g of IMR 4064 with 175 SMKs has got me pretty comparable results to off the shelf 175 FGMM, which is sort of my goal. I like being able to buy GMM when its cheap or load my own when convenient and have pretty similar DOPE. This load does well out to 800.

    I would definitely look into a dropped holster. Not a thigh rig, but a holster that attaches to your belt and hangs a little lower. Safariland and others make adapters. They wont work with your universal holster, but for the warbelt I would go with kydex or a Safariland ALS type holster anyways.

    I built the same type of rest for mine as the OP, but used an old Army sleeping mat for padding. After wrapping that in tape a and a little squeezing on the bracket, my Bergara can rest in the tripod without me holding it. Not as secure as a HOG for sure, but its what I have for now.

    I got a Bergara B14 HMR. Its been a good gun for a beginner. My friend has the 6.5CM and it also kicks ass. Easy shooting gun.

    I have no issues with flopping. The holster has enough room to move if I crouch, but still stays secure enough to get a good draw. Everything is attached to the belt via MALICE clips. I can try to get pictures if it will help you.

    The Surefire in ear plugs have worked fine for me. I usually wear my Howard Leight ears, with the Surefire in my right ear only, because my cheek weld usually breaks the seal on the HL cup on my right ear.
