    Those look like Rem 700 clone rifles, not an AI. Their FB page is unclear what action that AX'ish stock is for.

    I have a STI VIP in .45 that I use for CCW. Needed about $900 in work to make it 100% reliable (it was filled with a lot of cheap MIM parts) and the fit/finish was lacking in areas. If you get a STI, make sure it's a newer one that doesn't have any MIM parts.

    See if you can find a gently used AT - there is usually one or two for sale on here for very good prices.

    AT trigger pre and over travel adjust?

    I had mine modded (non-permanently) to make my AT a single-stage trigger. The sear holds when dropped butt-first onto concrete from about 3'.

    Accuracy International Picture Thread

    The pre-14 does not have the quick-change barrel that the '14 and newer AXs and ATs have. Also, the stock is different. Action, bolt, trigger is the same as the AW/AX/AT. I got a barely used AT for a very good price - as I didn't see the need for the '14-newer AX stock/chassis.

    Muzzle brake considerations

    I've used about a half-dozen different .308 sized brakes and they basically all work the same. Pick one that you like and use it. Personally, I am using the SilencerCo ASR brake as it mates with the SilCo Saker that is waiting patiently in NFA jail.

    Best torque tool for AI AT?

    I have the Borka too, it was $35 or so and comes in its own carrying pouch. Super easy to use as it is pre-set for the AT. (they also make other torque wrenches pre-set for other rifles).

    Wood chassis stock manufacture?

    I made a mistake and it's actually made of micarta, not wood. However, the person who won this year's Steel Safari was using a Foundation stock, so it must be pretty durable.

    I have the Borka torque wrench that they make for the AI AT and it's phenomenal. I would recommend any of their products.

    Just my experience, but I've had really bad experience with Salomon customer service. Had a pair of their boots where the sole dry-rotted (the store where I had bought them subsequently went out of business). Emailed them several times (only way to get a hold of them, no phone # listed)...

    You're right, it looks like wood, but isn't. It was my confusion as I just remembered what they looked like, not the actual material.

    Whatever you get, make sure you bolt it to the floor/wall. Even the heaviest safe can be taken out of a house with enough people.

    If you can afford it, get a pair of the Alden 404 with the lug sole, they are handmade, bombproof, will last forever (and are rebuildable). Plus, they are the same boots (the 405 model with the neo-cork sole) worn by Harrison Ford in all of the Indiana Jones movies...

    Someone was selling an almost brand-new on on the optic for sale forum a few weeks ago. Don't know if it sold or not. BTW - $3k is msrp/map, street price might be less.
