    638 will work to .25mm. That's almost 10K. I am not so sure he has a 4k problem. He measured the ID with a caliper. Shims with loctite would be like trying to push a greasy string up a cat's ass.

    Your measurements probably lack accuracy. Sounds like both manufacturers erred on the opposite sides of the print. Not unusual at all in the lower end stuff. I don't believe a tight fit is worth the effort for the average build and shooter. If it makes you feel better glue it in with LocTite...

    I'll say it again... A reaction rod is the wrong tool to R&R a muzzle device. It holds the barrel extension not the barrel. If you use it enough time you will unscrew the barrel from the extension. Ask me how I know.

    Tools that engage the lugs should NOT be used to R&R muzzle devices. If you have a vise to hold a BEV or reaction rod you already have what you need to R&R muzzle devices...

    Are you using a crush washer? If you are take it off and see how it looks without it. If that doesn't help write it off as tolerance stacking.

    I live a thousand feet from salt water. I only have 2 blued weapons in my safe. I have used Breakfree CLP for 30 years and never had a problem with rust. I do wipe them down a couple of times a year if not used and cleaned afterwards.

    I understand.. There is more to shortening a FG stock that just cutting it down and screwing the pad back on. McMillan used to provide the service but sometimes it took 6 months to do. Chad (Longrifles Inc.) can do it much faster.

    I think you answered your own question... The flaw in the chamber was always there but the brass lost the ability to spring back after the first firing.
