    A 300wm with appropriate 180s or 210s will take an elk out to 700+, but there are few who can do it from field positions consistently. A LOT of practice is necessary.

    Buy used and get way more rifle for your dollar. If you get an RPR/etc you'll be wanting to upgrade in 6 months.

    Years ago I bought a Savage 300wm for the scope that was on it. The bbl had been cut to 16.5". It was loud but still shot real well. I atill have the bbl - ill make someone a real good deal on it! 🙂
