Switch from 73 eld to 75 bthp

The Hornady 75 gr. BTHP's are the best shooting bullets in my 20" 1:9 twist Remington 700 SPS Tac. I shoot them over TAC powder.

    .223 20” 1:9 twist

I have a Remington SPS Tac with a 20" 1:9 barrel, and it shoots 75 gr. Hornady BTHP bullets as well as anything else (best is 7/8" at 300 yds). I run those on top of 23.0 gr. of TAC powder. I've tried factory Hornady 73 gr. ELD, and no bueno. Patterned more like a shotgun. Good luck!

Tikka TAC A1 or Ruger Precision

Or save another $100 and get the Tikka Varmint ($100 less than the CTR) and drop it into a KRG Bravo stock for $1,300 all in, and now you have an extra $500 over the Tikka T3A1 to spend on glass. Also, you may wish to look around for some of the closeout Vortex PST 6-24 scopes that are now...

WTS Bell & Carlson Medalist for SA Rem 700 - "SPF"

Selling my Bell and Carlson Medalist stock for a SA Remington 700 rifle. It is black with grey webbing. Had a .223 Rem 700 SPS Tac mounted in it. It is like new, no dings or marks (see pics). Will ship in original box too. Great way to improve on one of the tupperware Rem 700 stocks! Free...

.223 1/9 twist 20 inch barrel. 68 Hornady or 69 grain Sierra bullets?

Both Hornady 68 gr and 75 gr BTHP's shoot really well (less than 1/2 moa) in my Rem 700 SPS Tac with a 20" barrel and 1:9 twist., and others have said they're cheaper than the Sierra's

Rem 700 223 tac. Need opinions

I have your rifle. I have a Rem 700 SPS Tac in .223 with the 20" barrel. I dropped it into a B&C Medalist stock, added a Timney 510 trigger and mounted a Vortex PST Gen. II scope on it. It will shoot 1/2 moa all day. I've shot it out to 300 yds. (longest range I've been to) and had a best...

Pros and Cons of the 6 br

Yup, that's the kind of math that goes through my head. Get a 6.5CM Howa for $1K, or the Gen. 2 RPR's in 6CM that are out there for $700 - $800 new and be done with it. Can always download a 6.5CM or 6CM to just above 6mmBR levels for an easy shooting longer distance stick with reasonable...

Pros and Cons of the 6 br

Thanks all for the info. Maybe buying a SA Rem 700 action alone and then purchasing a barrel, recoil lug and nut might be the way to go without breaking the bank. I'm looking for something with a bit more range to hit paper and steel than my .223 Rem 700 SPS Tac (in a B&C stock with a 510...

Pros and Cons of the 6 br

Seems like except for a few Savage factory 6BR's, if one wanted to get into the 6BR game you would have to build one, right? Both the 6BR and 6.5 Grendel seem like interesting cartridges.

The GAP Butthurt thread (formerly 6mm GT)

Maybe I'm missing something, but Hornady's factory loaded 103 gr. ELD-X 6mm CM rounds run right at 3050 fps. What would the benefit be to running the 6GT vs. a 6 Creedmoor? Hodgdon's website says a 6CM will require 42-45 gr. of powder to run north of 3000 fps. Is George suggesting better...

What scope do you have on your 22?

Have a Leupold VX-III 6-18 with target turrets on my Anschutz 1416HB. Feels just about right for bench shooting and an occasional silhouette match.

    6.5 Creedmoor rifle

I have a Rem. 700 SPS Tac that shoots 1/2 MOA all day and am very pleased with (sample size of one). The Howa 1500 in a KRG Bravo chassis from Brownells is around $1000 and certainly would get you going too. From what I understand (never shot one), they have good triggers. I have shot a Tikka...

How many bolt guns do you own?

Have a Rem 700 SPS Tac in .223 in a B&C Medalist stock, timney 510 and Viper PST Gen II. Only other is an Anschutz 1416HB. Been looking at something larger like possibly a 6.5 Grendel, 6mm Creedmoor or 6.5 Creedmoor...we'll see...
