    AR Charging Handle Failure

ATX is closed. I'll bring it by Monday. I'm sure they will replace it.....they are a stand up shop.

    AR Charging Handle Failure

I've shot AR's more in the past.....mostly precision rifles now. I shoot them enough now to remain proficient. That being said, I've never had this happen, nor have I been present on a range when it happened to someone else's gun. Rifle was an ATX Armory 14.5 barrel shooting XM193 ammo. I've...

    Rifle Scopes Scope for AR

Started with a NXS 2.5-10x32. Nice compact scope but wanted more magnification for precision work. Next went to a Bushnell LRTSi 4-18, nice glass but reticle was just a little thick on max power. Ended up with an Athlon Cronus 4.5-29x56. My search is over, great glass, nice reticle...plenty of...

Gunsmithing RPR Replacement Barrel 6.5 CM LRI or PVA?**Updated with Proof Barrel at post #24**

Update. Late July Got the rifle back from a local Gunsmith. I did some research on them and nothing bad. I chose to put the original Ruger brake on the Proof barrel. Took rifle out for 4 range trips and 260 rounds fired and still not performing like I wanted. In my frustration, I took the rifle...

JP Enterprises vs Radian Weapons .223 Upper

My .223 JP upper with a 20" barrel is the most accurate gas gun I've even shot. It's a .5 moa gun. I don't reload, so I tested around 20 different types of match ammunition out of it. There are some that shoot great and some that shoot surprisingly bad. My search for a precision .223 gas gun...

Rifle Scopes Scope mounting on a AR

Without leveling anything, you are guaranteed a canted reticle. If mounting a scope in a QD one piece mount, check to see if the Arisake Scope Leveling Tool will work....it's the fastest and easiest way to mount the scope. You'll need a flat bottom on the base, sharp edge on the base, and enough...

    High end factory rifles?

Took my Bergara LRP 6.5 CM to the range for the first time. Will wait for 1 more trip to do a more in depth comparison to the Ruger RPR 6.5 CM. Initial observations favor the Bergara by a wide margin. More accurate out of the box, smoother action, no slop in the bolt, cleaned up easier...

    High end factory rifles?

I'll let you know about the Bergara later this week. Taking it out Friday for the first time. It's a Premier LRP in 6.5CM. Definitely more refined than a RPR....hoping it shoots like the test target indicates. Seeking rings and Cronus BTR will be going atop it tomorrow.

NXS had the option of Zero Stop or Non Zero Stop model. Sounds like you bought 1 of each.

Rifle Scopes Opinions on Bushnell xrs vs Athlon cronus

Another chime in for the Cronus BTR. Went from a Bushnell LRTSi 4-18 to the Cronus BTR. Thought the G3 reticle in the Bushnell got a little thick on max power....plus wanted a little more magnification. Cronus BTR reticle is nice and thin on 29x ....oh, and it's 29x!! Bushnell glass was very...

    Newcon Optik Spotter ED

I would have zero confidence with anything with the Newcon name on it. Rangefinder I owned was garbage.

    Rifle Scopes Bushnell 4.5-18 LRHS

I had the LRTSi 4.5-18x with the G3 reticle. Great glass as others had said, compared very favorably to scopes costing far more. The reticle got a little thick on max power. I swapped it out for an Athlon Cronus BTR and am very happy with it. I'm staying put with the Cronus on my JP 223...

    Belt & Chest Rig

You didn't say which Branch or Unit. If recently enlisting and regular infantry, I don't think you'll get to use your own kit. I don't think even the Rangers get to use unissued equipment. I doubt the current USMC infantry will allow it either. These rules were relaxed in the early stages of OIF...

Range Report Fgmb .223 73 gr

If you mean this, Federal Premium Gold Medal Berger Ammunition 223 Remington 73 Grain I don't have velocity info for you as I do not have a chrony....but it was very accurate out of a JP 20". I was almost ready to go with that ammo but then tried Copper Creek Cartridge Company 77gr...

Caldwell Rock Deluxe Bench Rest Shooting rest

Bipod what are those....is it on the right way or backwards? I had a heck of a time deploying those long bars that it stands on....what the heck are they called again? All the toilet seat, pizza box, non-shooting fucks get issued these.....not like you have to get selected for, and pass any...

    Rifle Scopes Athlon Scopes

Brought 2 precision rifles to the range last week. Shot the 556 JP with Cronus BTR first, then switched to the rebarreled Ruger RPR 6.5CM with Vortex AMG. When I first changed over from the Cronus to the AMG......I said "awwwww"....sad face :(.....out loud. Not that the AMG image was bad, it...

    Tactical Man-purse

I carry around a Maxpedition Versipack Jumbo LEO version to some places where I can't conceal carry. Used that as a "Go Bag" in Iraq for years. Surprising how much "stuff" one can fit in there. The Jumbo LEO bag appears to be discontinued....too bad as it was the perfect Go Bag IMO. I've used...
