Now's the time to buy an ADL Varmint from Dick's

Re: Now's the time to buy an ADL Varmint from Dick's Hmmm, been looking at the Dicks current sale paper online, The $50 rebate is from Remington and is on the 700 Varmint, no problem. The $40 rebate is from Reminton and is for a 700 SPS. Fine print says one rebate per model????. The Dicks...

How to pick a light weight bullet for 1 in 10 twis

Re: How to pick a light weight bullet for 1 in 10 twis I've had very good luck with Sierra 150 Match bullets in a couple 1-11 twist. I seat them with my 168 seater. Your chamber specs will have a lot to do with it. If it's a factory chamber then all bets are off.

    Gunsmithing 7-08 Obermeyer

Re: 7-08 Obermeyer Frequently when a well known name in the shooting world specs out a reamer , it is tagged with that persons name. When I speced out my 308 reamer, they sent me a couple prints of their "better" reamers. One was an "Obermeyer" 308. It was just a 308 reamer with a loose body...

Rust on chrome bolt carrier group.

Re: Rust on chrome bolt carrier group. Light surface rust won't cause any longterm problems. The fact that it wouldn't rub off makes me think either it wasn't just surface rust or it was something entirely different. Maybe a chemical reaction to the finish on the metal. Shoot more worry less.

    Is this a no go??

Re: Is this a no go?? So it's actually the barrel channel that doesn't fit. Opening up the barrel channel just requires a woodem dowel or socket of the right size to wrap sandpaper around usually?

    Range Report carbon fouling

Re: carbon fouling The benchrest guys used to be real big on the GM top engine cleaner and the Mercury Quicksilver cleaner. I remember reading where our favorite uncle frowned on something in them and they had to reduce the amount of the main ingredient reducing its effectiveness. Probably...

    Removing Lubalox From Barrel?

Re: Removing Lubalox From Barrel? What brand and caliber? Stainlees or CM barrel? Have you checked it for accuracy since you started the cleaning? Some barrels need a little fouling to shoot at their best. I would use some JB at this point if it is still not shooting up to par.

    Gunsmithing New barrel chamber issue

Re: New barrel chamber issue A true Wylde chamber will allow a 80gr SMK to be seated much longer than mag length and still not touch the lands. Any 68/69 grain bullet should be able to be seated to mag length(2.260) and not be close to the lands. You had it coated after chambering, could the...

What the heck is going on with my wife's Howa?

Re: What the heck is going on with my wife's Howa? Take the aftermarket magazine thing out and put it back to stock. It may not be fitting correctly and creating a pressure point.

    6.5X284 Grouping Question Please

Re: 6.5X284 Grouping Question Please Except for the high right shot, looks like the rest were easily in 1.5 inches. An yes the L-R looks like classic unseen wind. I'd be very happy with that group.

Experienced feedback on 10.5 ar barrels

Re: Experienced feedback on 10.5 ar barrels My experience with fast twist barrels is that they will shoot light weight quality bullets ie:52/53 match, V-max, Nosler Ballistic tips etc very well. The problem shows up with lower qualty bullets, the extra spin seems to magnify any imperfections...

White Oaks Barrel and I can't reload very well...

Re: White Oaks Barrel and I can't reload very well... I had a WOA spacegun upper a few years back with the 26in Wilson barrel. It kept making me think it wanted to shoot, but I kept getting fliers. Shots 1,3 and 5 would all be in the same hole. Shot 2 would be an inch high and shot 4 would be...

Gunsmithing Our New Service: Surface Machined Chassis Stocks

Re: Our New Service: Surface Machined Chassis Stocks Very interesting Mr. Chad. I've been thinking of going to a chassis system simply to avoid having to re-bed bolt guns after rebarreling, more down time and expense, especially my varmint guns which usually get set back once before...

    ar15 upper action block recommendations

Re: ar15 upper action block recommendations ORD; I took your link and looked at the Armalite blocks. It says not to tighten the blocks too tight in the vise? Seaaggie; not sure what a "spec" upper is, military spec maybe? Mostly standard flat tops for space guns, with an occasional GI...

    ar15 upper action block recommendations

Decided to quit shipping out my uppers for new barrels and do it myself. Looking for a good upper vise block recommendation. Found a good review for the Bushmaster over on AR15 dot com. But I noticed there are several others, some may simply be the same just rebranded. Progun, Wheeler and...

    Midsouth Shooter Supply

Re: Midsouth Shooter Supply Count me another satified customer. 2008 was during the great shortage. Some of the negs may have had something to do with that. With them you can specify to either ship whats in stock and ship rest later or cancel any thing not in stock. Or have them hold shipping...

    Accuracy trouble shooting an AR15

Re: Accuracy trouble shooting an AR15 Don't get hung up on the "match" barrel. Match is just a word that is frequently put in front of something to make it seem better. Most of us think of Kreiger, Hart, Obermyer, Brux, Bartlein and a couple other brands when we say match/target grade...
