    Here are specs for mkiii battery extension I made. Next one I would make 5mm shorter The reap is using 2 17500 batts with the battery kit, it might not run on a single cell due to lower voltage. But will need an extension to fit 2. The IR Patrol works fine with a single 16650 battery.

    Sanyo 16650zta is a flattop Orbtronic and keeppower have button top and are protected . The internal cell is a Sanyo 16650zta But protection circuit limits charge on most chargers to 4.20v, which is ok and extends battery life but reduces capacity to around 1900mah @ 4.20v vs 2400mah @ 4.35v

    If they are flattops you need a small baby aspirin size chrome/nickel plated magnet on the positive end to make contact with the end cap. I use the harbor freight magnets that come in a small plastic tube for a couple $$$

    The reap with the factory extension for 2 cr123a batts just needs a single Sanyo 16650zta 2500mah to run it for around 2-1/2 hrs. The Sanyo battery needs a 4.35v charger to charge it to full capacity. The mkii uses 2 16650 batts with the extension. Off hand minor cut 20.11 major 20.50 .75...
