Nanny State Test: Company Locks Thermostats of 22K Customers, Cites 'Energy Emergency'

Oh hell no. Not only don't I have any "smart" appliances but when my desktop computer isn't in use it's turned off and half the time when I leave the house the phone is on the coffee table. Two of my vehicles have carbs and points & condenser ignitions. Yeah I'm a Luddite.

This is tangental to the article but why is always olympic size swimming pools? An acre-foot of water I can visualize, but what the fuck does an OSSP look like. Fuckin' city people.

Info on Remington 722 .222 Rem.

I have a 722 in a Fajen stock. I got a Jewel trigger for it and it fit the action just fine. The only thing was it is so far back that it actually touched the trigger guard. I just used a flat washer on that action screw to lift the guard up a little.

Why the stigma on local militias?

I think the word was stigmatized during the Clinton administration. My former in laws, who were old fashioned laber union Democrats, didn't like it if somebody called their 40 acre spread with multiple shops and out buildings a "compound".

End of the Internal Combustion Engine

Books I've read postulate everything from a comet strike in the Arctic to a coronal mass ejection. Edit: I was talking to the geologist on one of the rigs in Prudhoe Bay one time, he said that he has seen wood and bark brought up from 1400 ft underground. You know some wild shit has...

End of the Internal Combustion Engine

About 12,000 years ago there was a sudden and dramatic increase in global temperatures that led to the extinction of many species and a 400 foot rise in sea levels. Try as they might they could find no evidence of Republicans, oil companies or cow farts.

End of the Internal Combustion Engine

Having lived over forty years in Alaska I just have to wonder how much an EV's range will be shortened when you're running the heater at 40 below.

What’s your preference and why: GOA, SAF or NRA

I am a life member of the NRA but they haven't gotten a dime from me in several years now. Wayne and a good chunk of the board of directors need to go and the organization needs to get back on track. I have always supported SAF and these days GOA also gets my donations.

I have basically stopped tipping, and its paying off.

In her younger days my cousin was a waitress, but not a dancer, at a strip joint. It wasn't unusual for her to make $100/hr in tips.

Maggie’s What music do you secretly enjoy when you’re alone?

About 90% of what I listen to is hard rock and heavy metal, but a guilty pleasure would be Gordon Lightfoot. Songs like The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, Sundown, and Don Quixote.

    New phone recommendations

I recently got a Motorola Edge 5G, the reviews call it the middle child but I have no complaints. Apple is a cult.
