Cleaning rod clearance question for Manners MCS-T5A

THIS is why all my builds wear Manners. McMillan piques my interest now and again but I refuse to give up the quality of service that Tom offers. PM inbound, brother.

    BC for Hornady 140bthp

Ring, what formula are you using to convert the BC? I think it was in his book but my brother bogarted my copy. If that .2877 is correct, I'll be switching to the AMAX cuz I've been using the Hdy match exclusively but if I'm not mistaken the AMAX G7 is .301 or thereabouts.

Range Report Received my new Magneto Speed V2 yesterday

I don't see an issue even if there is POI shift. Maybe I use mine wrong but I use it to work up loads then get velocities in a few different conditions and after that I only need it if I travel to a considerably different altitude, and even then it's only used for a quick string to verify. It...

Cleaning rod clearance question for Manners MCS-T5A

After I set my initial cheek weld I put a spot of nail polish on each post where it meets the stock. When I clean, I just take it off and it's easy to relocate. You could also use tape if you wanna set a physical bottom stop.

Rifle Scopes NF ATACR vs Razor

Got it. Not many of the ATACRs in circulation just yet, but for what it's worth they made a concerted effort to get the Beast on par with the big boys so it's at least got their attention.

Rifle Scopes NF ATACR vs Razor

The ATACR has a nice reticle in the MIL-R but it's SFP, which makes such a nice reticle much less useful, and the Vortex is FFP so it's not really a fair comparison. The Razor is more in line with the Leupold Mk6 and higher end Bushnell DMRs. I understand NF doesn't wanna cannibalize the Beast...

Range Report Received my new Magneto Speed V2 yesterday

I'm not sure the Magneto can be used on a handgun. Its secured using a tension strap that wraps over the barrel and handguns don't normally have such a provision. I don't see why it wouldn't work with a revolver, though.

    timney rem700 .223

2.5lbs minimum for practical applications. If you're a benchrest shooter you can go lighter but its better to be too heavy than too light.

    new rifle: Sako or Savage

Apples to oranges. If you can swing the TRG, do it and don't look back. Savages are shooters but it's no contest.

    Feedback wanted on 6.5 Creedoor

6s and 6.5s are dominating the competition circuit for good reason. The projectiles are high BC, recoil is low, trajectory is flat, velocity is higher, and 6.5s are very efficient regardless of chamber. That said, I would check the shelves at local shops and see what they have available. If they...

Gunsmithing Flutes in a barrel vise

I have a barrel living on borrowed time, gonna replace it here pretty soon. It has aggressive helical fluting(thanks again to Kampfeld) and I'm concerned about it slipping or chewing up my blocks. Is there anything yall do to guard against it or should I be ok?

    Getting into Tactical Marksmanship.

Re: Getting into Tactical Marksmanship. Often times the action screws that come with aftermarket stocks need to be trimmed to fit. They send em long intentionally to guard against loose factory tolerances. If you still have the original action screws I would try em. If you can torque em to...

    Getting into Tactical Marksmanship.

Re: Getting into Tactical Marksmanship. Dennis, who makes barrels for the Remage? Custom order or does anyone stock em? Also, how much inletting do stocks need to clear the nut? Lastly, are you gonna have time for a warm up session before the match this month?
