Armscorp "M21" Marked M14 NM Semi-Automatic Rifle with ART II Scope

Congratulations, I looked at your rifle and scope during the preview day of the auction and it looked like a nice one! I wasn't planning to bid since I have a similar one, so I didn't look through the scope our inspect it in detail. The overall impression was excellent.

New McMillan HTG M40A1 smear stocks!!!

I saw those, they are both awesome looking rifles and awesome smear stocks.

    USMC Unertl scopes

Congratulations on the auction, that looks like a nice scope. First, the ribbed focus ring itself should be held in place by the lock ring (the rear section about 1" in length). So, if you haven't loosened the lock ring (counterclockwise) the focus ring won't turn. If the lock ring is stuck, I...

    Chuck MaWhinney M40 on Gunbroker

That is Jackson Armory in Dallas. If you look at their other auctions and their closed auctions, they almost never receive bids. They just seem to use Gunbroker as advertising and picture hosting for the guns they are selling.

    USMC Unertl scopes

Tokiwartooth posted some pictures a few years ago of Unertl scope 1045 that he converted back from .50 Cal to .30 cal. The key was that he had the .30 Cal parts, so was able to "re-convert" it back to .30 Cal. I think anyone else would be better off to just buy a .30 Cal scope if that is what...

    MST100 Interest?

...and not just one coat of paint. The scopes with real character have at least 3 or 4 layers of different colors/terrains, each peeled and flaking before the next layer was painted.

Great job on the spreadsheet! Thanks, Dave

    MST100 Interest?

I'm not in for a scope, but he should definitely make a bunch of spare parts while he is at it!

CMP sold Unertl and USO MST-100 scopes

I worked with the numbers some to see whether there were any significant gaps in the serial numbers that would indicate missing data. I developed a scatter chart and a column chart using @capthook spreadsheet. They didn't show any significant gaps. Going through the 1xxx numbers, I found two...

CMP sold Unertl and USO MST-100 scopes

Chandler, Death from Afar, Volume 1 list the serial numbers and dates of purchase for scopes from 1006 up through 1651. It also lists 1652 through 1673 as "test scopes". In the higher serial numbers shown, the dates of purchase bounce around between 1983 and 1988. Based on the higher serial...

CMP sold Unertl and USO MST-100 scopes

Your observations on the serial ranges are the same as mine. I haven't seen or heard of any serial numbers higher than 1913 in the .30 Cal. scopes and 5150 in those originally made as .50 Cal. scopes.

Good points! I hadn't realized the dates wouldn't show in the cut and paste. You must be talking about CMP user #9151, ha!

US Optics Scout-Sniper Day Scope prototype

Excellent work, thank you for compiling the list! I had started planning a format but hadn't done it yet.. The only format differences I had planned were columns for ".50 cal. conversion" and "date of auction" (so I could sort by those). I didn't have the number of bids and CMP user #. I'll...

US Optics Scout-Sniper Day Scope prototype

Yes, I used that search function to save the numbers into a word file. One caution is that there are a few auctions where they failed to put Unertl in the title, so if you search by Telescope, you get a more complete list (but have to cull out the M84's etc.). Also, there are some where they did...

US Optics Scout-Sniper Day Scope prototype

Negative, that is just the username I adopted on the CMP forum in 2009. They had changed the forum software and I couldn't reuse the username I had used for the prior 10 years. I have asked about a list of Unertl serial numbers a couple times but haven't had any success. I have just been...

The CMP sold two of the USO 3xxx series scopes. Help with scoping an M1A

In selecting rings, just be aware that the BPT mounts used Weaver mount specs rather than Picatinny. The Badger mounts I tried to use on one Weaver base would not fit. Some narrower Picatinny rings might work in either, but it's best to check before you buy.

So what did I just buy? Scope mount edition

This sounds like the same mount, Leatherwood/Hi-Lux Tactical 3D Mount. SWFA used to sell: http://www.opticstalk.com/leatherwood-tactical-3d-mount_topic12647.html

USMC M40A1 Unertl mount on Gunbroker

I was able to notify the buyer of a totally faked 03A4 sniper a few years ago but had to do it indirectly. I searched using his gunbroker username and found the same username on a couple firearms forums. I'm not finding any fordf1501995 except on an instagram account in Mexico... I have no idea...
