USMC M40A1 Unertl mount on Gunbroker

I posted on the other thread that I had dealt with TMA on two rifles back in 2015 and 2016. The M40A1 that I bought has a repro mount that looks like the one in the pictures of auction for the complete rifle posted above, auction 1015561811. I have some pictures of that repro mount that I...

    Army M24 Build Thread

That is the thing with these FOIA's. It's very unlikely that this M24 sat in storage at Fort Campbell from 2012-2016 when issued to the 5th SFG. The same is true of its earlier locations.

    Army M24 Build Thread

It's hard to tell exactly when it was rebuilt, some FOIA's are more specific on that. It started as an M24 based on the date, and I would say it's last configuration was an XM2010/M2010 based on the plugged rear sight holes and the adhesive residue from the tag. I think the "reconcilliations"...

    U.S. Army/Navy/USMC M14-based sniper and DMR/SDM rifles circa late-1960s to late 201Xs

Amen! All kidding aside, that sundown silhouette shot is an awesome picture!

    U.S. Army/Navy/USMC M14-based sniper and DMR/SDM rifles circa late-1960s to late 201Xs

Those silhouette pictures look cool, but in real life they are called “targets”. I’m glad there weren’t any bad guys around when they were taken.

Looking for insight / feedback - Remington M24, issued or not?

That is one of the standard Remington M24's that they started releasing to the public about 2014. Based on the RR prefix and G suffix to the serial number and the datamatrix square, this would have been pretty late in production, maybe 2016 or later. So it is a real M24 made by Remington...

    Building a not clone 1903A4

My suggestion is to look for an 03-A3 receiver that is already drilled and tapped. I built a clone that way years ago. I made the bolt cut on a stock that was already cut down as a sporter. Then I grafted a forearm onto the stock using the forearm from a cracked stock, with a splice under the...

    History of the SR25

Interesting reports. It's surprising to me since I've handled and shot several of the early SR-25 Match Rifles from the 1993-1994 time period (see my posts earlier in this thread) and have never had any issues. Barrels and accuracy were always excellent, and their reliability was perfect. Of...

On a positive note, I sent a question to OTB via Gunbroker and included a link to the posts here. I got an immediate response back from OTB indicating they had emailed Gunbroker asking to pull the auction, and discussing how they could correct the auction language. Hopefully Gunbroker will...

Still they are selling them with a title of "Remington 700 LA M24 U.S. Factory Barreled Action 24" RR series marked". The only hint that they know they are fake is the word "style" in the description: "1 - Remington 700 LA U.S. M24 Military Style Receiver". They need to just come clean and call...

Like I said above, they are wrong in a lot of ways and not even close! It's really bad that they are creating fakes. They are a solid commercial action, just sell them for what they are.

Exactly, it is wrong in a lot of ways. Further to your points, there are no screw holes for the back-up iron sights. It's not even close! In my opinion, it appears they ruined a perfectly good commercial receiver. I should add that there were some legit short action M24 receivers that were...

I agree. But I have seen some of the M2010 optics cases (made for the MK4 6.5-20x50) that have had the foam modified. That makes me think that the optics cases were used at some point and modified in service.

Thanks, that is what I suspected. I've only seen a couple pictures with the optics case shown inside the hard case with Armageddon case. With the rifle strapped into the Armageddon molle loops and inside the hard case, the optics should be protected well enough to remain on the rifle.
