Modify HS Precision stock or new stock?

Chassis system will be a very different type of stock. So either you want a chassis or you don't. That is a different question. Inlet the HSP would be cheapest option. I would simply paint it myself to save money. The only time I have professionals paint stuff is to make parts more rust...

308 Subsonic Loading: Final word on lubing bullets?

Rjacobs, thank you for your bluntness. I think. My barrel is an 18" 1/10 and I was planning on trying 180 gr RN Sierra's and Hornady's, so your data is quite interesting to read. I'm quite disappointed to hear they will not be noticeably more quiet. I knew they would not compare to anything...

308 Subsonic Loading: Final word on lubing bullets?

rjacobs, That is right- my silly government prohibits firearm safety equipment. I do not have a suppressor, although my gunsmith likes to tease me because he works on the province's LEO rifles and gets to shoot with them quite often. We have stupid firearm laws in the north. Appreciate your...

Trail Boss and 308 Subsonic Loading

Next question: Does a 308 subsonic loaded with Trail Boss have enough pressure to consistently expand the case properly? Or will shooting light loads repeatedly out of the same case eventually cause them to acquire excessive headspace?

308 Subsonic Loading: Final word on lubing bullets?

Has there been any new developments/ experiences with lubing bullets? I cannot find any consistent answers on the need to lube. While people seem to agree that 180 to 220gr Sierra or Hornady flat based round nose bullets make the best choices, they are at odds on whether lubing these bullets is...

Trail Boss and 308 Subsonic Loading

I've been reading up on hand loading .308 win subsonic ammunition. Easy enough to check if a bullet is still lodged in the barrel, but SEE is a bit more intimidating... My understanding is that SEE is caused by too little powder in the case (<30%) which causes improper ignition and disastrous...

    Gotta brag on stream light.

I have a Streamlight TLR1 that is excellent. Been banged around endlessly and keeps on clamping tight and lighting up.

Rifle Scopes 5 vs 10 mil turrets

I had a 5mil NF, then upgraded to a 10mil. Both turrets work fine with good clicks, but I prefer the 5mil. I found it better spaced. More gross motor than fine. I don't dislike the 10mil, but given the choice, I'd rather the 5mil.

    Hearing protection advice needed

I use to use foam and non electronic muffs. I recently decided to upgrade and bought some Surefire EP4's. The EP4 are better than I imagined. Leaps and bounds better than the foam. Quicker to put in, more comfortable, lower profile (the foams sometimes begin to slip out), and I find they block...

    Remington 700 BDL bottom metal?

A bunch depending on what you are willing to pay: DD Ross Badger Ordnance (M4) Dakota Pacific Tool & Gauge has the regular OEM clone and the Oberndorf model Other than PT&G's offerings, I find the other companies charge ridiculous amounts for their BDLs. That being said, I found a great deal...

Rifle Scopes Are all 8-40 rails same screw space spec?

Yes they are both for a 700SA. I was curious because 700s do not come with 8/40 and are normally opened up by smiths. Therefore I thought there might be slight differences between the different manufactures. I figured smiths just used the rail to place the holes (?). Maybe I should have posted...
