    Quantico T48 Trial Rifles

Ok, I am really jealous you live that close. I would hate the traffic and congestion of the area, but there are so many research locations within an hour drive it's absolutely amazing. I plan my vacations every year to go out to that area and research. :) On the Garands they have quite a...

    Quantico T48 Trial Rifles

I copied all the docs on those T48 rifles. There was actually a lot of info on them at the Archives. Here is a couple shots of one of the reports. On the Weapons Vault. I cannot even put it into words what an experience that is. That is easily one of the coolest things I have...

    Quantico T48 Trial Rifles

That's the weapons vault that supplies the museum. I've been there multiple times and it's one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I took pics of those rifles as well, as they have a whole row of them. Plus I have the actual testing docs of them by the Marines before they chose...

    1903A1 USMC Clone Questions

The way I read the rule book, you can use a Scant on a 03a4. But you cannot use one on a M1903A1 Unertl. This is one of my biggest pet peeves so let me rant a little bit. lol About 1/4 of all the original M1903A1 Unertl Snipers I know of were found with straight stocks. We have pics of...

    1903A1 USMC Clone Questions

I know the CMP requires the rifles to have a C (pistol) grip stock. Instead of the S (straight) grip stock. Which is absolute crap as the Marines used both styles. This is one of my pet peeves and has been for over 10 years. lol Otherwise I think the CMP rules are pretty standard...

    1903A1 USMC Clone Questions

It depends on how correct you want to get into the build, but it sounds more like you just want a shooter. The M1903A1 Snipers were basically (in the simplest terms) a NM that had the blocks attached and the handguard modified. Honestly if you take a 1903 and add 0 & E blocks Unertl blocks...

U.S. marked clip slotted 40x action?

Yeah as others said, PTG themselves are the ones who marked this. :(

Marine Scout Sniper Heritage Foundation - Fundraiser Event - Request for Info

What I would probably recommend is reach out to Tim Parkhurst. He would be the lead in this. His email is: [email protected]

New McMillan HTG M40A1 smear stocks!!!

It depends on which era you want to go with. Originally they were redfield mounts and rings with Redfield 3x9 scopes. Then when the Unertl 10X came out, they did use the redfield mount and rings for a very short period of time on the first ones. Then a Unertl mount came out for the Unertl...

    M40 scope rings - reproduction

I would be interested in one because I actually have 2 original mounts. It would be neat to get one of these in my hand and then post pics of it side by side with a real one. From what I see it looks pretty good.

    Lets see your USMC M40-M40A6!!!

Hey I appreciate you asking and being so passionate about researching these rifles. I love to see people seek out the original source documents and not just rely on books or online posts for their info. I am however sorry to say I cannot share them (at least at this time) because some of the...

    Lets see your USMC M40-M40A6!!!

It 100% is a unique item. As far as I can only 2 were trialed and I would bet alot of money this is the only one that still exists. That is super rare!

    Lets see your USMC M40-M40A6!!!

So I actually found the docs on this exact barrel at the Archives. :) This barrel actually predates the M40A3 test rifles by a few years. It actually even predates the Schneider barrel tests from 1997. This was part of a M40A1 test barrel program because they seem to have been fed up with the...

M40A1 current builders and parts ?

I know the thread is 1/4-28. But on length, it gets tricky because you usually have to get them long and then cut them to the length you need. The thickness of how it is bedded makes the difference.

    Lets see your USMC M40-M40A6!!!

When I look at the M40A3 Test rifles built in May 1999, at least everyone I see details a Schneider 1 in 12. Now whether there was anything else tested past that, that is a good question.

    Lets see your USMC M40-M40A6!!!

I found a bunch of unpublished M40 series docs at the National Archives and in the mid to late 1990's they start to talk about updating the aging M40A1 and you see the ground work start for the M40A3. I see them state in the wind up to the new program that they were having a hard time getting...

USMC M40A1 Return Stock Case Study (The Progression of McMillian Stocks)

Sniff that is a really interesting one. Can you see any trace of a serial in the barrel channel, where they removed it? My hunch is the last four was written in with Marker and they removed it, and wrote AVAIL on it. You might be able to see traces in the right light? This one looks like...

USMC M40A1 Return Stock Case Study (The Progression of McMillian Stocks)

No those 50 were just the ones that were released on their website. There were several builders who got shipments for builds that aren't included in that number. This post has the pics of the new made smears and it's just neat to see the differences in each one...

USMC M40A1 Return Stock Case Study (The Progression of McMillian Stocks)

Hey guys if you know me I'm always researching in the National Archives for Marine Weapon info. I've been hitting the National Archives lately on the M40 series of rifles and I've been able to find a lot of new info on them. One thing I have found at the National Archives (that I'm really...
