Interesting New Entry Level Rifle The Ruger American Predator

I got the .223 as well ... and promptly took it to the gunsmith to get chopped to 18" like the .308 flavor. much nicer that way. MM speaks the truth, without a magazine mod it won't do the heavies ... although you can single feed 'em.

    Remington 700p project.

Agree, it's a very decent trigger. The only thing I would do to a bone stock 700p is chop the barrel to 22" or 24", and polish the magazine edges/feed ramp. IMO, it doesn't need 26", and a lot of them scar your ammo up when feeding. Mine shoots 168's awfully well, as in 3 in the same hole @...

    varmint rifle ideas

the ruger predator .223 is out there, I've got one. it has a 1-8" twist, so it will shoot heavies. they are sub-MOA accurate. my suggestion would be to have the barrel cut to 18" like the .308 or the compact version, and then use it with the suppressor. you'll be amazed at how good these...

Need help on remington 700p problem

yep, they take some polishing. the surfaces are sharp from the factory. with mine, I took 3 rounds and cycled them through repeatedly. that will reduce, but not eliminate, the case scratching. the rifle is so accurate, I have forgiven it for the rough feeding.

    18" to 20" 243 barrel ?

If you've got a suppressor on it, that will solve the concussion issue. At that point, it's just a matter of deciding if you can live with the velocity loss. I'm a big fan of shawty's from the carryability standpoint, not as much a fan from the shooting standpoint. I can tell you that the...

    My 5r customized by S.A.C.

ah, I wouldn't be too apologetic about that accuracy. the 635 yd plate speaks volumes, you're doing hella good work with that rifle.

Buds guns??? Any one buy from them?

I've purchased most of my artillery there. One time they sent the wrong rifle, which was advertised incorrectly on their webpage. After a phone call from the FFL, they made it right and I wasn't out a dime.

Me too. It'll be next weekend, unfortunately. other RAR owners are reporting good accuracy.

    16-18 inch shorty rifles

I post this on the thread half jokingly, half seriously, but it is a shawty: Ruger american rifle, predator, .308. comes from the factory with an 18" threaded "heavy sporter" contour barrel, .68" at the muzzle. it's an el cheapo, at $350ish, and I wouldn't ever expect to build on it. but...

My first stupid question on SH

I think that a 1-8" twist .243 would be about the best decision you could make.

    left eye doninant question

I am left eye dominant and right handed. My dad was wise enough to start me shooting left-handed as a kid. I've never regretted it, even though I prefer shooting a right-handed bolt gun left-handed now. I started out shooting archery right handed. switched at around 13-14 yrs old, it became...

    CZ455 ... which model?

this is true, in my limited experience. can't say that my heavy-barrel 455 has any accuracy advantage over the sporter barrel model. it does sit more solidly in the bags, though.

Hunting & Fishing David Petzal needs straighting out.

Petzal just likes poking the bear. It's definitely nothing to get this upset about. from my movie-watching perspective, the bad guy snipers are always the cowards, the good guy snipers are heroes.

    Savage Precision Carbine 308

spend some time reading in the optics section, think there's a good sticky in there on riflescope selection. I've got no problem with the VX-2, it's just designed to set and forget (use holdover/holdoff for elevation/wind). other scopes have knobs that are meant to be spun every time you shoot...
