Seems there is a shortage of everything 223/5.56 these days. It's certainly getting harder to find for cheap prices. When folks round here are trying to sell 100 pieces of new Winchester 223 brass for 50 cents per case, I can start cleaning range brass. :)
500ish pieces of random range pickups (raw, uncleaned and not deprimed) for $60 (12 cents per). Not perfect but a good deal in today's market if you're willing to prep them...
I think it's all relative and (like so many other things in this game) there comes a point where any arguable gain comes at an exponentially increased price. But most of the guys I know that run them really like them and believe they help minimize runout and are very well built. I haven't tried...
