To lube or not to lube. That is the question.

You starting load sounds solid - I bet you see good results right off the bat - when you say "threw your powder" you want to be sure you weigh each load for precision. "Bumping the shoulder" means how for back you push the shoulder when you full length size. There are several tools that can...

    Scope turret question

I disagree, this guy is new, has an MOA turret and a Mil reticle - so he has to learn his come-ups in MOA but do his wind in Mils? Too deep too fast for a newbie in my opinion. As for the 15 MOA per turn, you are working with a low-end scope (probably the best low end scope on the market) but...

To lube or not to lube. That is the question.

Depends on the context of your shooting. If you plan on controlled shots from the bench, neck sizing is fine. For what I do, which is often a lot of fast shots in field conditions, I bump the shoulder just a touch so there is never any funky resistance to chambering.

    Ax butt spike, worth it?

I've been considering the same thing - but using it with a bag - sometimes, that extra inch or so would be helpful so you don't have to squeeze the bag so much or re-adjust bi-pod legs - but $250 is a lot.

    Help,Model 12LRP Loads

My guess is its more of a rifle problem than a load problem. Does ANY load shoot well? Have you tried hornady factory. If that won't shoot then it is a rifle problem. Check this out: I've done this with my savage and seen tangible results...

    PTG Drop In My ASS!!!!

I had a similar problem with my PTG bottom metal with AI 223 mags. They just sat to low to cleanly strip the rounds. So I called PTG and discussed the problem and THEY SENT ME A LONGER MAG LATCH AND THE PROBLEM WAS SOLVED.

    Load Development Question?

I second that - Buy a box of very high quality factory ammo, run 20 through it, get your scope zeroed, see what happens. Clean the rifle good. See how easy it cleans. If it cleans easy, start working up loads. I clean after most range sessions for the first 100 rounds or so just because.

    Rifle Scopes Lol knockoff

I don't get the joke - this looks just like my Schmidt that I got off Armslist for less than $3,000. They said it was a super limited edition, government contract over-run.

    Bolt Action with Iron Sights

Milsurp: O3A3 would be bad ass. New: Ruger Scout Lever gun is another option to consider. There are thousands of old 30-30s out there on used gun racks with several good iron sight upgrade options.

    53 V Max in 12tw. 223, Anybody?

I shoot a 9 twist 223 and use the the 53 grainers with BLC2. As for factory loads, I was able to get a box of Hornady Superformance with 53 VMX. Sometimes I buy box of factory loads and if they shoot well, I'll duplicate the OAL and velocity. The Superformance shot like crap in my rifle, so...

Rifle Scopes Vortex Razor HD 4.5-27x56mm Gen II T&E Report

I shot the Surefire match with the scope as well. A lot of bouncing in pick up truck and hard cranking of the elevation turret - rock solid. My first shot at a mile was a mil low and my wind hold was waaaay off. The reticle allowed me to adjust the next shot almost perfectly. i scared the...

Rifle Scopes S&B 5-25 or Vortex Razor HD Gen II 4.5-27

My thoughts exactly - but if you take 1 mil out of your elevation dial you can use the Vortex reticle's 1st stadia with its .2 mil dots as a pretty darn good substitute. I did this in our last paper match at 800, 900 and 1,000 and it worked great. But I would only use that trick during...

Rifle Scopes S&B 5-25 or Vortex Razor HD Gen II 4.5-27

I have both. Shot the Vortex at Surefire 2 weeks ago and the Schmidt at our steel match last Sunday. Is the Schmidt better? Yes. Is it $1400 better? I'm not sure.

    OAL or Charge????

Wait till what you see happens on paper before getting concerned about varying seating depths. I start with .015 off the land on all my precision rifles and have never seen a compelling reason to change. I usually find the right load and that's good enough. I use the Hornady modified cases...
