Rifle Scopes Scope box test expectations?

Re: Scope box test expectations? Frank, of course recoil may lead to (additional) problems, but I believe in test setups that isolate potential problems as far as possible. Having a "clean" result when visually checking tracking can exclude irregular tracking as a cause of erratic...

Rifle Scopes Scope box test expectations?

Re: Scope box test expectations? Of course doing a simple box test is far better than doing nothing, but the only thing you can really check this way with any level of confidence is verifying the correct click value, and even doing that doesn't require shooting a box. I would certainly not...

Rifle Scopes Scope box test expectations?

Re: Scope box test expectations? Shooting a scoped rifle in order to do a "box test" is a very poor way of testing a scope for proper tracking. You will only gain very little insight into potential problems, and to get even that little, you need to do a lot of shooting with a very accurate...

Rifle Scopes NF & S&B clarity interesting experience

Re: NF & S&B clarity interesting experience Jeff, I'm not saying anything about this case in particular because I wasn't there, I haven't seen the scopes and I don't know anything about the people looking at the scopes. My remarks were meant as general considerations to keep in mind when...

Rifle Scopes NF & S&B clarity interesting experience

Re: NF & S&B clarity interesting experience One thing I never see mentioned in comparisons like this is whether all scopes were dialed more or less to optical center. Especially with longrange scopes, having one of them on an extreme canted base and another one close to center might skew the...

Rifle Scopes Effects of minor scratches on optic quality?

Re: Effects of minor scratches on optic quality? Scratches on the outer lenses won't have any more impact than some dust/debris on the lens. Now ask yourself if you keep your lenses perfectly clean all the time. Scratches are generally way overrated from a strictly functional point of view.

Rifle Scopes Safe way to remove remnants of paint on scope?

Re: Safe way to remove remnants of paint on scope? Acetone on the lens should not be a problem, but use it sparingly because you don't want to get it on any o-ring seals. Those might not hold up very well, or you may wash out lubricant that is needed for smooth operation.

    Rifle Scopes Optic Clarity?
