I have Gradous 6.5 cm and 260 26 inch barrels which both shoot lights out. My AI factory 12 twist 308 26 inch barrel shoots just as good. I don't think you will gain much by replacing your factory 308 barrel with an after market 308 barrel...Ray
As I said in an earlier post and your pictures pretty much prove it. Your scope base is not square with your action and barrrel due to the holes in the action being drilled slightly to the left. Your scope will compensate for the misalignment. If the rifle shoots good you can just live with it...
As soon as I saw it was a Savage I had a pretty good bet on what is causing your issue. Savage is notorious for not drilling the scope rail mounting holes properly on their actions. This is not the first time I have heard about this happening with a Savage rifle....It happens all the time..If...
I would be second guessing myself...There is a reason many custom action manufacturers make Remington clones. I don't know any that make Savage clones..Someone can correct me if I am wrong..Ray
I have a S&B 5-25 that is on my AI AT with a 20 moa base. The S&B has a reported 26 mils of elevation. With my 6.5 Creedmoor barrel I have right at 20 mils of elevation available to me. If I added a 20 moa Spuhr mount, which is approximately 6 mils I would have theoretically 26 mils available in...
I can understand sending the scope back for your own piece of mind. I don't understand the need to maximize upward travel to that degree unless most of your shooting is at a mile plus. Ray
I have two pelican cases. The only problem is they are so heavy I have to take the rifles out so I can carry them...Seriously for airline travel you can't beat them. For going to the range I use a drag bag..Ray
Large rifle brass and small rifle brass have the same size .080 flash hole. The exception is many of the Lapua match caliber small primer brass have the .059 flash hole. Ray
