Gunsmithing I'm buying a lathe....prepare for lots of stupid questions....let's get started!

Alright, I have too much time on my hands...well not really, but I'm a fool so here we go. I'm buying a lathe, plan to read books, rely on friends that have lathes, watch videos, etc and teach myself. Eventually I'll chamber barrels and such, but I'll make plenty of random chips first. So...

Rifle Scopes Viper PST 6-24 Failure - AGAIN!

^^This^^ For the number of PST's that are out there (and it's a bunch) there are very few issues with them, those with issues are quickly and painlessly remedied by Vortex. I'd buy a PST in a heartbeat if I needed one.

In need of new set of binos

The Vortex Viper HD 10x42's will not disappoint for the money. They are a smokin' value. If you can afford them then the 10x42 Razor's are even better. I own Leica's and have for 10 years, but if I was buying new again I'd go Vortex. I bought some for my wife and father, both are very pleased.

Where to find Remington 700 5r milspec .308

The SWFA SS Scope in your link in mil/mil for turrets and reticle, you'll be just fine with it to start. If you can, I'd try to find another $300 to buy a used SWFA SS 3-15, it will make you happier. 10x is enough, but you'll wish you had a little more magnification.

APA Gen II Fat Bastard & Little Bastard

I'm confused, how does it not need to be timed in the event those ports are pointing straight down and blowing crap back at you?

Rifle Scopes Is this NightForce good?

The simple answer is no. I played with one at SHOT, wasn't impressed, might be ok for hunting but the knobs were crap and you wouldn't want to be dialing them often. In that price range, SWFA 5-20x50 HD non illuminated. Much better value in my opinion and the SWFA likely has a lot more...

Jewel trigger failures in the field?

I've seen at least two go down at matches and they weren't terrible conditions that I recall.

I think this post really adds a lot to the discussion, I know you've changed my mind with it, thanks for the additional input.

Thoughts on this SWFA combo for a 3 gun style setup?

I've been out of town, so just seeing this thread. As a guy that actually owns that rifle, I'm probably better to speak about its quality, accuracy, parts, etc than all the others that "think" they know about this rifle. As stated, it's built with all grade A parts. Mine was easily a 1 moa...

    Rifle Scopes SWFA SS Riflescopes

The SWFA SS scopes are very hard to beat in their price range. I've never played with an F1, the top end magnification isn't enough to keep me happy. In my other NF to SWFA comparisons the SWFA SS was much brighter towards the end of shooting hours/daylight. Mine have traveled all over the...
