    Hunting & Fishing Squirrels

Re: Squirrels To refer to squirrel as anything other than "tree rat" is misleading. As mentioned a very sharp knife is required. Does anyone know of a tanner making gloves out of squirrel?I would think a glove would last forever.:)

Re: 338 Edge - 300gr VLD - Not grouping You are out of my my experience. Sorry, I didn't see you mention the Hybrids. Are these the same as the Classic Hunter? I'm thinking maybe try the jump from mag length.

Bad Win Brass Review on Midway?

Re: Bad Win Brass Review on Midway? I don't know if it makes any difference where Win brass is purchased. I bought my latest from Scheels and 6 out 100 didn't have enough brass to finish the necks. 20 more have loose pockets. I have gone to buying Lapua when on sale. Maybe I'm just not lucky.

    308 cal primer pocket expanition

Re: 308 cal primer pocket expanition OP, There is a thread in semi auto section (why are AR10's hard to shoot). Someone talks of over-gassing causing primer pockets to swell. Maybe an adj. gas block could help?

    Looking for an accurate trainer

Re: Looking for an accurate trainer From what you have mentioned any target style 22 would fit your needs. I would try rimfire central and see what is available.I think repeaters might be in your price range too.

    Rings - Scope - HELP

Re: Rings - Scope - HELP Check out DIP for bases and other stuff.(mag well :0) My personal prefference is for higher magnification with parralax adj. I went with a Scheels 6x18 hunter that I think works well for ~$250. 3x9 will work fine as long as you always mount gun the same.(cheek weld...

    Rifle Scopes Scope Problem

Re: Scope Problem I'm not an expert, How tall are your rings? If I understand you putting a shim in the front ring sounds bad as it could stress the scope. Too tall of rings might place scope to far from the bore to allow propper sighting in. Pics. would be heplful.

    Expert advice wanted

Re: Expert advice wanted I'm assuming round is unfired. Do you have multiple firings on the cases? (are you reloading?) My guess is you're not getting fully resized (time to aneal) shoulder not bumping back enough.(head space)This causes bolt to not close fully so you can have pressure on the...

Done my research and still over my head on 6mm

Re: Done my research and still over my head on 6mm I suggest the .243 in a 7.5 twist 26" barrel. This twist will allow use of 115gr bullets and down. Length allows speed without using too much powder. .243 is standard without fireforming/extra work. Taper? I'm not much help, how much weight...

    new rifle for son

Re: new rifle for son Wysongdog, You really haven't given enough information. Have you asked your son what he wants? Anything CZ or above in quality should be good. I was raised so anything bought by my partents is a keepsake as they didn't have much, so everything represented a sacrifce by...

    Is a chronograph necessary?

Re: Is a chronograph necessary? HG, I think Blaine is right but unless someone can eliminate all variables(shoot perfectly everytime) how can they trust what the bullet is showing? I like the idea of an inexpensive chrony just for ballpark figures, nothing beats actual data for each yardage, right?

    Can't FL resize brass sufficiently

Re: Can't FL resize brass sufficiently After re-reading, you may have several problems at once. I think very good advice has been given, but you stated you also lost "good brass" after bullet seating. Check your seating die for crimping. If your die is set too far down it will crimp/push...

    Experience With N540

Re: Experience With N540 I have only used n550 and n560 so far. I find n550 slightly faster than h4350. By slightly I mean I use the same charge or no less than one grain different and achieve greater vel. Ex: .243 win 105 berger 40gr h4350 2950fps,40gr n550= 3050fps. .30-06 165gr sgk 59gr...
