    I run 140 RDF’s in my 260, 2890fps with a decent pressure safety margin. I think this barrel is faster than average though. I’m planning to chamber a 30” 260AI barrel for my DTA with a bunch of freebore to launch those new 153.5 hybrids, seating above the neck/shoulder junction... should tickle...

    I do feel compelled to point out one significant advantage I see in the creedmoor... it is (in my humble opinion) significantly better proportioned to run in SR25/AR10 magazines/platforms. If I setup a large frame gas gun I will choose the creed. Apparently JP Enterprizes agrees with me on...

    You lost me with the belt fed reference... but the rest I could conditionally agree with. I have/had both, and my current flavor is a 260AI. I subscribe to each his own, good thing we live in the land of the free. Pick your favorite and rock on!

    Seriously though, you have to admit... the strongest attribute of the Creedmoor is marketing. The 260 had mediocre success at its heyday due to crappy marketing, factory loads, twist rates etc. Hornady has definitely not made that mistake. Available quality factory ammo, and lots of marketing...

    Does it make a difference if you manually cycle the action vs locked open and drop the bolt? I’d just start eliminating variables... if it really comes down to a difference in how the gas system operates your bolt vs you operate it, there has to be a mechanical difference somewhere.

    I decided to go with a Kelbley Atlas tactical action myself. The value on those at $999 is awesome... comes with a pinned scope rail and recoil lug and already nitride coated. Thanks for the input on the magazines guys. I guess AI mag length ammo and 20 round capacity just isn't doable...

    How could you regret such an awesome action?! Interchangeable bolt heads, so if you end up wishing you didn't pick 223, just swap it out and drive on!

    Yea I agree! My main complaint is a lack of capacity. I think the size of a 20 round AR mag is perfect. I kinda got used to “operating” with a couple 20 round AR mags in each of my cargo pockets. I could hustle around and get lots of shots my friends were missing because they were reloading.

    So it sounds like no one has ventured out into a double stack setup... darn! I have kinda a hybrid use in mind. I’m not building my 223AI to launch “heavy” match bullets. I’m building a 1:9 twist more or less for a varmint slaying rig, but with some occasional use for practice or low recoil...

    I recently looked into building a 223 trainer for the first time, and I'm a bit dismayed at the dismal magazine options that seem to be available. I'll probably end up using several of the MDT polymer 223 mags, but I'm quite surprised that no one has came up with a more efficient magazine...
