    .17HMR or 22LR

Re: .17HMR or 22LR I have alot of property and an orchard that attracts ground squirrels. Shooting squirrels is great sport, but more importantly, the only good ground squirrel is a dead one so I dont want to miss... ever. I found the .22 works very accurately out to 100 yards. The .17 is...

    best beginner gun

Re: best beginner gun If you're going to do it, do it big. Barrett M82-A1 in 50BMG firing slap rounds (308 projectile). Its a sure bet that the bullet will go whizzing by the 1000 yard mark. Of course, I recall something about not firing slap out of the M82... The round exits the the side...

    AICS Bipod Rail mount?

Re: AICS Bipod Rail mount? If you choose to go with a rail on the forearm, make sure its made for the AICS. I have a rail that fits in a similar slot on a Robar SR90. I wanted to see how an Atlas would look on an AW. Turns out the 'T nuts' that slide in the slots didnt fit the AICS.

Gunsmithing Gunsmith might have fouled my Surefire Flash Hider

Re: Gunsmith might have fouled my Surefire Flash Hider Im shocked that a smith with a good rep would just hand that back to their customer. I guess sh*t happens. I hope you were planning on painting the rig anyways. As Wnroscoe said, that can be dressed and painted to point that nobody will...

    Hunting & Fishing Bayed Coyote.

Re: Bayed Coyote. I used to raise cattle. When a pack of coyotes get on a young calf, they tear it to pieces. They will eat on an animal that is still alive and struggling. I figure any suffering a coyote experiences is karma coming back around. I wont sit by and allow any other animal to...

Re: Poll: Do you shoot cheap/fmj/surplus .308 ammo??? I figure that every bore has a limited lifespan of xxxx number of shots before the throat is excessively worn or what have you. For this reason, I make every shot count. After all, if you dont care about precisely hitting what you are...

Need advise, Ruger MK 2 almost blinded me

Re: Need advise, Ruger MK 2 almost blinded me With the firearm being factory clean, I cant imagine how this happened. I have a MkII and it has fired literally thousands of rounds, most of them subsonic, and I have never had any issue whatsoever. If the fragment came back with enough...

Range Report Best performing subsonic rifle round?

Re: Best performing subsonic rifle round? I have experience with a 300 whisper. Even at 100 yards, the 220 grain pill is flying in a serious arc. Its like lobbing in artillery. You would have to have your ballistics and distance to target mapped out very accurately to make a clean kill imo...

Fieldcraft Observing vehicles from a distance

Re: Observing vehicles from a distance A laser interferometer could be used from great distances to see if individual trucks are idling. My personal opinion is to leave the working man alone. If it is excessively hot or cold, its unreasonable to expect trucks to not idle. Does the guy that...

Re: thinking of getting a bushnell 3200 or Millett I've got the millet LRS. Actually, toying with it on the bench it seemed quite good so I purchased two more. Upon mounting the first to my AR flattop varminter, I found that when you adjust the eyepiece the crosshairs move around...
