    Pulled M118 Accuracy

Re: Pulled M118 Accuracy There was an older thread debating this. One side said pull marks deforms core and other school of thought was that your rifle barreling tears up the bullet more than any puller could. Definitely interested in a side by side group comparison so please post asap!

New barrel = new recoil lug?

Re: New barrel = new recoil lug? Yes you can use the lug you already have. Don't be detracted by the debate whether you should use a Remington factory lug or get a new one, with equal numbers of supporters and detractors on each side.

    Bullet puller marks

Re: Bullet puller marks "air pulled" is based on the same principle as a kenetic puller; using the weight of the bullet to pop it out except they use an industrial slammer rather than the cheap plastic ones you find off midway.

Did I just ruin my brass? Put it in the oven...

Re: Did I just ruin my brass? Put it in the oven... Assuming OP's brass was at risk of being fully annealed, is there any way to rework the brass to save it (assuming the brass is e.g. Lapua and worth saving). I thought maybe you can load them up with very weak loads with no bullet seated...

    LAPUA BRASS

Re: LAPUA BRASS RTH - wow 43x loads is a lot. How did you process your brass? BTW, did you market that brass as "once fired"? haha.

Remington 700, 4 or 5 round internal magazine?

Re: Remington 700, 4 or 5 round internal magazine? Scoop - thanks for explaining and for the pics! I don't think I have to file the side tabs all the way down since I expanded the internal mag so its now flush against the stock wall. That and removing maybe .2-.3" off the tab should enable me...

    Range Report Can someone explain?

Re: Can someone explain? Make sure you measure your scope height and input it correctly. Do a search on how to measure distance between bore center and scope center, then click on the (?) next to the Sight Height / Zero Height.

Frustrated with recent load development attempts

Re: Frustrated with recent load development attempts At this early in time its not really about neck tension etc. In furtherance of what Sagebrush & D Ice said: (1) your making too small increments of .1. Follow SageBrush's advice and once you narrow it to down to a general range, then go...

Remington 700, 4 or 5 round internal magazine?

Re: Remington 700, 4 or 5 round internal magazine? Scoop- can you post a pic or describe which part to dremel off to enlarge the internal mag? Thanks. Did you experience or know of any negative "side effects" of removing the material?

Range Report New Thoughts on Barrel Heat & POI Shift.

Re: New Thoughts on Barrel Heat & POI Shift. Bohem - I appreciate the scientific analysis confirming my theory. I guess the point I'm trying to make is that not everyone has to spend hundreds of dollars on custom barrels and/or stress relieving their barrels to achieve optimal accuracy (as...

Range Report New Thoughts on Barrel Heat & POI Shift.

Re: New Thoughts on Barrel Heat & POI Shift. Disclosure: my barrel is a Rem factory heavy barrel that has not never been "stress relieved". However, I think that the chances of POI shifts correlating near perfectly with the cartridge's duration in the chamber offsets whether my barrel was...

Range Report New Thoughts on Barrel Heat & POI Shift.

I know this topic has been beaten to death and that the general thought is that, as LL demonstrated, POI does not (or should not) shift as the barrel heats up. Moreover, if there is shift, then its likely that the barrel was poorly made (not stress relieved etc.). However, I think there's a...

    My gun hates lapua brass?

Re: My gun hates lapua brass? Just a thought, before I implicate the seller of the Lapua brass: Its also possible that the other rifle had a match or tight chamber and your Savage has a larger chamber. You said it yourself that the Lapua brass, when resized to your specs slides in and out...

    My gun hates lapua brass?

Re: My gun hates lapua brass? Assuming don't give up on the Lapua brass, try bumping them only .001 back. Reload a couple rounds and see if you still have a sticky bolt. Here's my assumption: whoever sold you the Lapua was not 100% honest. Lapua brass is thicker than Winchester and most...

Why am I having so many misfires?

Re: Why am I having so many misfires? The Lee Classic can accidentally bump the shoulders back if, when neck sizing, you smash in the brass below the edge of the die. (1) Make sure the top part of the die is screwed in tight (the end with the hole where you drop the bullet through at the...

    New 700 feeding issues

Re: New 700 feeding issues Use fine sandpaper to smoothen the interrnal mag followed by steel wool. It could be rough/poor finish and/or burrs on the higher parts of the mag (where your experiencing feeding issues with the particular round). You'll remove a nice chunk of the finish and...

Lapua brass a waste for a factory 700?

Re: Lapua brass a waste for a factory 700? Regardless whether your a beginner/pro/benchrest shooter, Lapua is worth it from a pure economic standpoint. Win brass: $38 per 100, then 10-15% have issues (hole off center, mouth crushed, dented etc., so now you have 85 pieces bringing it to...
