Dumb Handgun Ammo Reloading Question (Noob Inside)

Try the plunk test, but they should be fine. As already said, 9mm is a tapered case, it is common.

    .357 Magnum 6 and 8" hunting loads

I have used a 125 Speer soft point in front of 20 grains of H110 for 30 years. Winchester 296 is now the same powder. Start low and work up, watching your groups. I would choose accuracy over velocity. Back in the day, a lot of hollow points were too flimsy to hold up to a deer bone. I hear good...

    Remmy 700 .223 and a 1:12 twist 26" BBL

Sell your take off Remmie barrel to recoup some of your costs. Around 100 bucks if it is unfired or low round count varmint contour....

    Educate me on bushing dies

Expander balls are the devils work! Bushing dies are oh so smooth. Bushings are also easier on the brass. I have made some very accurate ammo with standard RCBS dies before I discovered the bushing dies by Redding though.

    How hot is too hot?

When you see a flat primer, you will know it! Those look good to me,

    need some sizing help

Always resize new brass, this includes new to you used brass. Consistency is the key, if your dies are adjusted correctly, you will be ok.

My OAL varys per round. Is this a OK amount or to much?

Shoot em and see. I bet they will be fine. All bullets are not created equal!

how do you guys trim cases after fl bushing die

You may be using too small of a bushing, making it too tight on your pilot. Mic both and see how much you are sizing. A .246 bushing may not size to .246...after spring back.

    Primer pocket uniforming

The Sinclair tool will not do this, it has a stop built in. I do every piece of brass I get with em. I like to feel the primer seat.

    dents and FL resizing

The pad works great, it is easy not to get lube on the neck and shoulder if you use the right amount of lube. You could use die wax too, but you put it on your fingers and lube em one at a time.

Problems with 22-250 RCBS Resizing Dies

Also when you are adjusting the die, leave the expander ball in the case neck, then tighten the setting. This will keep it centered. Listen to Samnev. He gets it.

Problems with 22-250 RCBS Resizing Dies

I don't use the RCBS instructions for setting up dies. Use your chamber as a gauge, adjust the die to resize just enough to fit easily, no more. Like others have said, check for long cases and your decap rod. Odds are good that you didn't get two bad sets from RCBS. Adjust your decap rod to just...

    How far off to start

I would start at least .010 off as there are variations in all hunting bullets that could put one in the lands causing a serious pressure spike. Try this too, load your magazine full, shoot all but one and measure it for length. Is it shorter or longer?

Reloading .308 with a Lee classic loader without a powder scale

If your friend has a scale borrow his to see what that dipper of Varget weighs. You can make the size that you want with an empty case (45/70), just cut it to the correct length or fill it with epoxy until it holds exactly how much you want to use. Remember the Lee Loader only sizes the necks...

    Different loads shift POI left/right

yup, shoot groups, not worrying about POI until you are done with the work up loads. Then adjust your POI to where you want it. Done.

excessive case stretch after one firing with sticking cases

Mark a round with a sharpie and chamber it. You will see where it is tight. I feel you will find it in the base area, not the length. Dedicate one set of dies to each rifle along with the brass. Adjust each die to each rifle's chamber. That way they will always fit.

    Case life- neck sizing

You will need to FL size at some point, you will notice a hard bolt closing when it is time. you will need to bump the shoulder back. Trim to length, as it will feel the same at the bolt if the case is too long. I don't understand flipping the primers....you should be able to feel a loose...

Pressure signs on 300 Win Mag.

Seating it deeper might raise pressure. So could seating it longer depending on where your lands are. You really need to measure. You can find the lands with your method, you just need to be able to measure to know how far you are off.

Remington vs. Winchester Brass - Feedback Needed

I would recommend Lapua or Norma. I have heard that Nosler is made by Norma, but I haven't used any. For precision loading, use the best components that you can get. Lapua.

    Case life- neck sizing

Primer pockets and necks are the first to go away. I seat all my primers with a hand primer so I can feel the pressure. If it is too loose, just deprime it and toss the brass. Necks are easy to feel when seating. You are FL sizing every 3 or 4 firings right? You can usually feel the bolt getting...
