Rifle Scopes Horus vision or NF...

Re: Horus vision or NF... Me 2. 20x is good for 300 yds in my opinion but you (I) can't really see bullet holes on grid paper. Glad you didn't go NF, I have one and now I want more of them for my other rifles.

Real world accuracy: 223 wylde chamber V 5.56 nato

Re: Real world accuracy: 223 wylde chamber V 5.56 nato My 5.56 shoots half MOA at 300 yds. I think the variation you see in ammo is much more than you can pin on a Wylde versus a 5.56 chambering.

    AR Malfunction

Re: AR Malfunction When in doubt, if I can't tell where the bullet went or if I don't see the impact/hole on the target I open it up and look down the barrel just to make sure it's clear before firing again. Granted, a pain in the ass on an AR, but better safe than sorry.

    Reloading worth it?

Re: Reloading worth it? It just better feeds the obsession. If you like better accuracy and to shoot more than do it. Don't be suprised if you eventually spend almost $1000 (or more) for all the gear. My advice is to get the good stuff and buy once. I reload for my AR and don't regret it...

Advanced Marksmanship Feedback on my shooting position, please?

Re: Feedback on my shooting position, please? I would keep shoulders at 11 or 12 o'clock to the target. This puts your left elbow almost directly below centerline of the rifle. A shorter magazine (like 5 or 10 shot) helps get in a better position and make the ammo last longer. Try sitting...

    Seating depth

Re: Seating depth I was at first suprised that you couldn't get it to the lands as I have plenty of room with my 7RM, then I realized you have a longer ultra mag. I recently tried the 7mm SMK's and am very pleased with the groups. My default jump is .020" off the lands and adjust from...

shoulder bump gauge alternative to Hornady

Re: shoulder bump gauge alternative to Hornady I've found it's quicker to just snap the calipers shut with the comparator than using the instant indicator in the press. As such I don't use the redding indicator that much. Maybe I'm missing something...

    Progressive or single stage pres

Re: Progressive or single stage pres Rockchucker or a Redding T-7. Neat trick: on your rock chucker drill and tap a 8/32NC hole horizontally through web of the rear press member and you can put cleaning brushes (or many other case prep attachments) right where you need them before sizing.

    Seating depth

Re: Seating depth Berger 210VLD (.708"), 240 SMK (.651"), 220 SMK (.672") versus your 208 AMAX (.777"). (meplat to ogive dimension) I would go with a SMK as they are more tolerant to changes than a VLD. But what will you do when your throat errodes a bit more? I think if I invented a...

First 10 308 reloads. Ogive and Headspace question

Re: First 10 308 reloads. Ogive and Headspace question I would invest in a hornady OAL gage and modified case. That way there's no guessing when measuring your throat erosion over time or when loading different bullets.

shoulder bump gauge alternative to Hornady

Re: shoulder bump gauge alternative to Hornady I like the sinclair insert because it contacts more of the shoulder (and at the right angle). Their bullet comparator inserts fit the hornady body also.

    Savage 338lm 1650,1820 and 2050 yards!!!

Re: SAVAGE 338LM 1650YARDS!!! How bad is the kick using full load 300gr bullets? I'm thinking of getting one. Can you you shoot it all day? 20 rnds? 40 rnds? I'm used to shooting a 7RM.

Testing .224 Hornady 53 gr V-max in the AR

Re: Testing .224 Hornady 53 gr V-max in the AR This may be a dumb question but I thought the 75AMAX's can't be loaded to mag length (2.260"). Has anyone tried this or do you load them one at a time?

whats your guys thoughts on the stag arms model 6?

Re: whats your guys thoughts on the stag arms model 6? Just an updated range report for the model 6H... I'm now shooting 1-1.5" groups at 300 yds pretty consistantly. 77SMK's with 23.5 gr of Varget seems to be what it likes the most. 2600fps which is 100 fps higher than book value so...

    Lead Exposure??

Re: Lead Exposure?? They actually use graphite now in #2 pencils... and Pb is from plumbum, hence plumber. Glad I could help. Tumbler dust is nasty, I open the garage door when taking the lid off and wiping off cases. I would keep the kids away from powder/primers also (more worried about...

What type of powder in 7 mag Hornady Custom?

Re: What type of powder in 7 mag Hornady Custom? Did the box say superformance? If so I would say superformance is probably the powder. They don't use it for the heavier bullets in 7RM but I think they use it up to 154gr SST.

new to reloading, hornady or rcbs?

Re: new to reloading, hornady or rcbs? If I had to do it all over again... or better yet I would just start out with what I use now. RCBS rockchucker kit with the trim mate case prep center and chargemaster 1500 (I think Cabelas now offers this as a "supreme deluxe" kit and saves abit of $)...
