    Advanced Marksmanship wind doping

Re: wind doping Tiro, I disagree. Wind delection (in inches or MOA) is not linear, although close at shorter distances. It is based off crosswind speed and lag time (the difference between bullet flight time in air vs in a vacuum). Real bullets slow down. Throw in spin drift or other...

Advanced Marksmanship Books for Advanced Marksmanship

Re: Books for Advanced Marksmanship The experimental ballistic info/charts in the back alone make it worth the $ in my opinion (Litz). Comes with a good ballistics calculator CD/program as well. It is somewhat like a text book but thoroughly covers everything that happens after a bullet...

loading for the 7mm rem mag

Re: loading for the 7mm rem mag I think my new favorite bullet is the 175SMK after 4 shots went into .82" @ 300 yds. Neighboring groups were all good as well at 62-64gr H1000. Going back soon to see if it's repeatable, that's always the part that usually gets me. I wonder what a 175SMK...

    Sinclair Mandrels

Re: Sinclair Mandrels I used the expander mandrel/die for the first time 2 weeks ago in lieu of the expander ball. Takes longer to size cases of course but I think neck tension and runout are more consistant. Neck runout is now .001" or less coming out of Redding Type S FL bushing dies...

Belted Magnum questions for you guys....

Re: Belted Magnum questions for you guys.... Some dies like Redding are "tighter" than others on the body near the head/belt and better push it back to where it should be. I've found that Redding type S bushing dies and comp shellholders are superb for controlling shoulder bump, neck tension...

    Brass

Re: Brass The majority of what I run through my 7RM comes out with ejector marks. Sometimes they are more pronouned i.e. half circle versus a full circle. I usually toss brass based off loose primer pockets or signs trending toward case head separation (thinning just above the case head).

    manual case trimmers

Re: manual case trimmers Redding 2400. The cuts from the RCBS trimmer were usually crooked (seen when holding case in calipers). After 10-20 cases you get the hang of it and it's not much slower than the RCBS. It comes with just about all the pilots you need and will trim just about any...

    Stock comparison advice wanted

Re: Stock comparison advice wanted I think you should consider the B&C Tactical Medalist style 5 (link below) It is heavier, but helps a lot with recoil from my 7mag and is rock solid. (shooting a 308 with this would probably have same or less recoil thank a 243 sporter) The additional...

whats your guys thoughts on the stag arms model 6?

Re: whats your guys thoughts on the stag arms model 6? It was my first time reloading for the 223 last week and the groups were way better than using box ammo but still not where I think this rifle should be. I loaded mostly 77's but found that the handful of 69's did group a little better...

    Headspace and OGIVE ???

Re: Headspace and OGIVE ??? I couldn't find a taper tap in this size but yes it would be easier. I believe somewhere between 9/32" and 19/64". Use a size "L" drill (or 7.3mm) or hog out with a 9/32" bit. Mine threaded on a bit loosely but it snugged up solid to the gage's thread shoulder...

    Headspace and OGIVE ???

Re: Headspace and OGIVE ??? For the tap I bought one of these from Enco.com (below). The description for the other one looked right but the picture looks like a pipe tap or something bigger. 891-4932 5/16-36 HSS HAND PLUG TAP $13.64 It's an oddball thread so you won't find it at a...

whats your guys thoughts on the stag arms model 6?

Re: whats your guys thoughts on the stag arms model 6? Well, what happened? I'm loading some up for next weekend. What powder/load worked best for you?

    Headspace and OGIVE ???

Re: Headspace and OGIVE ??? To be concise you WOULD factor in the difference between between the cases you are using and the hornady case. The hornady case is really allowing you to find the distance from your shoulder datum to the bullet ogive. Taking the hornady modified base to ogive...

loading for the 7mm rem mag

Re: loading for the 7mm rem mag Dang, you get to kill something every day, that must be the life! I have to wait a whole year. They say SMK's aren't for hunting applications, but they say that about the AMAX's also and people say they work great on deer.

loading for the 7mm rem mag

Re: loading for the 7mm rem mag That's pretty good shooting. I just broke 1000 rounds in my sendero and it still does pretty good (1.5" 5 shot groups at 300yds), I think they're great rifles. Keep in mind the modified case has a shorter shoulder than your reloaded brass thus will add a few...

loading for the 7mm rem mag

Re: loading for the 7mm rem mag deerhunter, is that a .144" group at 200yds, how many shots? Also, how far off (or into) the lands were you seating the 168SMK's? I've found that just over 2900fps gives the best blend of velocity and accuracy.

whats your guys thoughts on the stag arms model 6?

Re: whats your guys thoughts on the stag arms model 6? Using 53gr VMAX box ammo I had one 5 shot group @ 200yds of 1.64" and 300yd 5 shot groups of 1.54" and 2.28". Also AE223 (Federal) grouped 3.46" and XM193F 5.56 grouped 3.75" and 3.95" (those were 10 shots at 300yds). There were some...

loading for the 7mm rem mag

Re: loading for the 7mm rem mag I like H1000 for my 7RM Sendero, it seems to burn cleaner than RL22 and still gives good velocity. After several pounds of Retumbo, I switched to H1000 and results were better. After you run out of 140's, I would try the heavier bullets as they have higher...

    Case Annealing

Re: Case Annealing I like the idea of using the trim mate for annealing. I'll have to try that and hopefully won't melt all the green plastic.

whats your guys thoughts on the stag arms model 6?

Re: whats your guys thoughts on the stag arms model 6? I just got a 6H upper about a month or two ago. (Stag 6H 5.56 24" 1:8 upper on an older Stag lower w/Timney trigger) I've only shot a few hundred rounds through it so far (mostly hornady varmint and federal 5.56) It shoots about 1 MOA of...
