Gunsmithing How to Accurize an AR15

Re: How to Accurize an AR15 I thought someone had posted in the past a multiple part series on accurizing the AR15. Might try doing a little searching in the archives.

    Gunsmithing Engraving Question

Re: Engraving Question There is also electo-etching. A lot of knife makers use this technique. You can also sandblast but it takes a bit of effort to make a mask & not worth it for one-of's. 2Linc makes a spring-loaded engraving tool if you have a CNC machine.

    Gunsmithing 6mm-284 remix. . .

Re: 6mm-284 remix. . . Just to add a little more to the knowledge base, when I asked Stan Ware of SGR rifles how he went about getting the bolt handle timed & tacked, he said that he uses a pair of needle nose Vise Grips that he modified for the task, he holds the bolt handle to the body and...

    Gunsmithing Remington 700 trigger spring

Re: Remington 700 trigger spring I've bought them before they came with the ejector spring and haven't had any fit issues in the older pre X mark triggers. Should get you down to 2.5#

    Gunsmithing LA Bounty bolt fixture

Re: LA Bounty bolt fixture Re. Sear pressure. I'm familiar with sleeving a bolt, having a bolt ground by PTG to fit a reamed receiver and Borden bumps. If you're going to go through all that, IMHO just buy a custom action like a Stiller Predator. A thought crossed my mind along the lines of...

    Experience with Tannerite Exploding Targets?

Re: Experience with Tannerite Exploding Targets? It's all they say it is. That being said, it's easy to get stupid with it and I've seen it happen. Don't put it under anything or around anything that can end up as flying shrapnel. It will blow a chunk of lumber into tooth picks. Don't set it...

Remington accused of 700 series dangerous flaws

Re: Remington accused of 700 series dangerous flaws I haven't read every page of this thread, seen enough of the ranting. As I understand it, based on this image, the alleged problem is caused by the shoe not being permanently attached to the trigger?? Seems to me a drop of adhesive would...

    Gunsmithing Something in my throat?...

Re: Something in my throat?... If it is a burr in the chamber, then a borescope is going to be required to make an assessment. Not a common problem if you are using a boreguide and cleaning from the breech. I'm "guessing" you're getting a little mark when the case extracts and clears the...

    Gunsmithing LA Bounty bolt fixture

Re: LA Bounty bolt fixture I presume the correct way it is used is to clamp the bolt in place and indicate behind the lugs and adjust the chuck until it's running true but that doesn't take into account if the bolt body has a slight taper or if the body OD varies. I ran across this thread...

    Gunsmithing Something in my throat?...

Re: Something in my throat?... "Usually" this is caused by the case either catching as it's chambered or as it is extracted. Try putting a round in the chamber by hand then extracting it & examine. Repeat but without using the bolt, force a round in the chamber then remove by hand. This will...

    Gunsmithing LA Bounty bolt fixture

Anyone using one? LA Bounty Fixture Thoughts? Opinions? You'd indicate off the bolt body behind the lugs and adjust the chuck until you were running true. The issue I see is if the bolt dia. at the rear mics different than the front then the bolt isn't running true to the OD. If it's only...

    Gunsmithing Laser Engraving

Re: Laser Engraving If you are wanting a deep engrave, you'll have to find someone with something along the lines of a 20W CO2 laser. Most of the smaller units like the Epilogs don't cut deep. Another option is electo-etching but it requires something like a silk screen to be made or a photo...

    Savage Mark II TR Review

Re: Savage Mark II TR Review You can't beat Savage rifles for off the shelf accuracy at their price point. Every Savage I've seen has shot well out of the box and nearly on par with a custom rifle with hand loads.
