    That sounds logical, it got worse with the 190gr HPBT but the 180 Federal HydroShock loads did the same thing. Would a short throat cause brass shavings to be inside the bolt face too. You know what sucks is this rifle was a safe queen for about four years ( never again) now it's prime desert...

    I have a new rem 700 .300 WM 24" bbl 5r. I have 30 factory rounds through it. The bolt feels smooth without a cartridge in the rifle, however, with two different kinds of ammo, Fed 180s, and HSM 190 HPBTs ( all I have ran) the bolt close is real, I mean real stiff.     I have a LMT MWS 16" CL barrel LC brass Win LR Primers Varget 43.5 gr 168gr SMK 2.233 OAL measured at Ogive I find that unless I really squeeze the brass I get feed failures. (tight chamber?????)

    On my portable bench I put garage door weather strip along the edge. It just sticks up 1/2" or so but it keeps brass from rolling off the edge.

    You can use a Wilson bushing. I could not find a .336 for the life of me so I ordered .336 and .338 Wilson bushings from Midway.... worked fine!
