F T/R Competition looking to get started, cant find a few answers in existing posts.

If you can afford a NF competition scope, then you can also afford a custom rifle. So, do whatever suits you. On the other hand, if you are actually on a student budget, a Weaver T-24 at around $400 is a great starter F-Class scope that is very reliable and capable. Based on your questions...

F T/R Competition looking to get started, cant find a few answers in existing posts.

Hey Jetjon, I'm part of the Phoenix F-Class crew and my family participates in all the Ben Avery, PRGC, and Rio matches. This website shows our schedule: http://www.desertsharpshooters.com/calendars Couple of thoughts for you: 1. 338 Lapua and student on a budget wanting to...

Agreed, a variable is better in heavy mirage.

F T/R Competition Camp Pendleton Long Range 8-2,3-14

I'm using a Duplin which I consider to be the best I've tried.

F T/R Competition Camp Pendleton Long Range 8-2,3-14

I've been working with the 210 LRBTs and the 208 Amaxes for the last few months in an 11-twist barrel. I can't tame the vertical.....have some good strings and then some awful strings. Pretty sure it's just me: nothing wrong with the bullets. Back to the trusty Juggernauts!

F T/R Competition Camp Pendleton Long Range 8-2,3-14

Thanks for the tips Greg and no, I need more wind training! :) I'll be there with the Juggernauts....gave up on the 210s after last weekend.

Gunsmithing PTG? Anyone know what's going on there?

PT&G makes good stuff, but their order processing and fulfillment leave something to be desired..... I've spoken directly with Dave on this subject but felt like he didn't believe this was really an issue. I still order from them and the girls are patient and hard working, but his order...

Rifle Scopes Which scope have you found to track closest to true?

Nightforce and March are most popular with demanding Benchrest and highpower shooters. By volume, nightforce is the leader. March was introduced to the US by Benchrest shooters tired of sending their Leupolds in for repair.:)

    Stiller Tac 30 group buy??

They've had problems with the bolt stop breaking. I'd make sure the bolt stop has been redesigned before purchasing one. Not sure if you are aware of that.

F T/R Competition Tripod for spotting scope?

Creedmoor polecat, Ray-Vins, and a few others are popular. As Ryan mentioned, you need a stand that allows you to use the spotter while shooting: left eye in spotter & right eye in rifle scope.

    Gunsmithing Remington Action Truing Options?

I bought everything from Greg Tannel and his video: works great.

Use some medium loctite to make sure that does not happen again

New to long range shooting and building a 260 Remington

That stock is rock solid. Setting looks aside, it will perform as well as any out there. The forearm is incredibly stiff and we have won many F-class matches with it. Shoot it before forming any opinions. Regarding the looks, I never thought it was all that pretty, but I am still...

    Gruning Precision Rifles

If the amount is truly $1500, then I'd go with Gruning. Given his reputation, I'm sure you will get a top notch rifle. BUT, I'd check your figures and make sure it is an apples-to-apples comparison: same action, barrel, trigger, stock, etc. If one uses a R700 and the other uses a Defiance...

    Huber 2 stage triggers.

Nope, just spoke with the owner. they are not true two-stage triggers and do not reset when the trigger is released as mentioned above. The CG trigger is about the only one available. Does that make them a bad trigger? That's your call. but one of the hallmarks of a two-stage is that it is...

My wife likes forum drama, so here you go:  March and Nightforce: nuff said!

    F T/R Competition Stolle F-Class or Barnard P for F/TR build?

My vote goes for the Barnard, but the model P is very heavy: might want to check out an alternative model. Also, Barnard will limit your stock selection. But, it still gets my vote. Lots of people use the Panda with great success. Just be sure to get the version with a picatinny...

Rifle Scopes 600 yard F-class: Vortex Viper 6.5-20x44 PA vs. Viper PST 2.5-10x44?

Agree that 10x is too low. If you are on a budget consider a fixed power Weaver T-24. This is a superb F-class scope prices around $400. It' not a multi-purpose scope, but it is perfect for F-class: extremely reliable turrets, perfect magnification, and acceptable glass. Lots of matches have...
