    Gunsmithing M1A stock refinishing question

I just picked up a Boyd's walnut M1A stock and realized the buttstock to buttplate fit is a little unsightly. In other words, the GI plate is thinner in width than the stock, leaving wood (more-or-less symmetrical) on either side of the metal. Now, the metal is fitted flush with the surface...

    Gunsmithing Grendel cycling issue

Bolt is fine. I think I might try the easy way of increasing resistance, via heavier buffer and stiffer spring. The rifle is still pretty new; I built it 120 rounds ago. I just had to fix the 5.56, so not really looking to take this one apart unless necessary.

    Gunsmithing Grendel cycling issue

You guys may be onto something, as I can feel a little slap as I release the trigger after follow-through. I do really love the trigger; better than some pricey ones I have tried. My only question would be, why does the BCG not go completely into battery? In other words, why would a lightened...

    Gunsmithing Grendel cycling issue

Mil-spec AR buffer and spring, but thinking about a Spike's or BufferTechnologies set-up, though they are a bit more pricey

    Gunsmithing Grendel cycling issue

Hey fellas, anyone out there have suggestions for fixing a 6.5 Grendel AR that doesn't completely reset the trigger each time? After firing a round, the buffer sounds like it is being slammed pretty hard. I am not worried about the slightly higher recoil (than say a 5.56), but would like to...

black friday / cyber monday suggestion for 2014...

I think that's a great idea. Perhaps make sponsors' posts/lists stickies, while members can have regular posts for the 'lookie-what-I-founds?'

    Sage stock buying recommendations

I've gotten a few PMs from members, but without a price or many details. I would appreciate any suggestions on finding a good deal. If you personally have one for sale or (preferably) trade, send me details and a few pictures. My email is in the first thread. Thanks again, -BigAndy

    Sage stock buying recommendations

No suggestions out there? The cheapest I have found is desertwarrior, for $700+S/H. Anybody find cheaper?

    Sage stock buying recommendations

Hey fellas, newest build will be in a Sage EBR. Picking up a tricked-out Polytech rifle tomorrow, and was wondering if anyone here has a line on relatively cheap Sage stocks. I know I won't score a NIB one for <$700, but recommendations (as well as 'Avoid this place' posts) will be greatly...

Sidearms & Scatterguns S&W upgrade or buy new?

I want something like the S&W 627 Hunter (http://www.calzaretta.com/scans/627hh.jpg), or an unfluted, slab-side barreled, 8-shot 627PC. I somehow became obsessed with the unfluted cylinder and heft of these pistols. Also, I currently have a 6-shot 686 that I really like. My questions to you...

    Sidearms & Scatterguns Hi-Power work

So, I got the Hi-Power a few days back and it looked slightly rougher than in the pictures. The lettering is worn down and the bluing is just about completely missing in a few small areas. Figuring that I ought to try it out before creating a new money pit, I took it to the range with no...

    Sidearms & Scatterguns Hi-Power work

(Sorry, my iPhone is retarded) like to incorporate some nice wood (Please, no gay jokes. Who doesn't like a good piece of nice, hard wood?) on the grips. I am thinking zebrawood or cocobolo, and non-checkered. In addition to the grips and sights, I am thinking of installing Wolff springs...

    Sidearms & Scatterguns Hi-Power work

Hey guys, thanks again for all of your help. I finally saved up enough to get my BHP. I ordered one from Coles Distributing last night, and will keep this thread updated throughout the build. I picked up GunBroker auction number 350313621 for <$410 OTD. The next step is off to Mel Doyles for...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Concealed carry knife

So, I am getting sick of folders. I hate my SOG's wobble and am not allowed to carry my old Benchmade auto-opener. I got a nice hand-made folder, but the sheath-holder wore out. Anyway, I kind of like the Esee 3. I would ideally like an OAL of about 8 inches with a partial serration on the...

    Broken ankle squat delay question

I never did do any physical therapy but PTed myself back to nearly-running shape. I got a few runs in and decided to start playing hockey again. Anyway, I got a blister over the second op site. After getting redder over the next week my ankle started a Fantasia-colored discharge explosion...

    Sidearms & Scatterguns Hi-Power work

I got a call from Don Williams today; heck of a nice guy. He walked me through some options, and actually talked me out of some others. I am now thinking trigger job, frame and slide polishing, new springs throughout, and a recrown of the factory barrel. I am not too far from Williams...

    Sidearms & Scatterguns Hi-Power work

I tried getting ahold of Marianne, but no dice. I left a message or two and gave up after no answer for a week or so. I had a Para double-stack that she did with all Ed Brown parts. It was okay, but I had to get the feed ramp repolished and had trouble with the grip screws. Both issues were...
