    That is a 1931 receiver. Are there any NM parts on it? Many of the builds that Springfield did during the 20s and 30s were for civilian match shooter.

    Pre War M70 standard as Vietnam sniper rifle

    MJ, Have never seen that pic before. Is it from a private collection? Definitely a sporter rifle with a M84 scope on it. Can't tell if the rifle is a Remington or Winchester. Cool.

    Help with LRB bolt and Fulton receiver

    Bugs pretty much nailed it. Fulton receivers are not worth the effort. Sell it for what you have in it, and upgrade to LRB or SEI. I've heard nothing but good news about James River's Rock-ola's, but I have not built any rifles with their receivers (and they are the same price as Smith's).

    Going into yet another war (in Vietnam), our military found itself w/o a sniper program. Sporting arms were taken out of the PX support services and fielded until the Pentagon could catch up to speed. These were standard hunting rifles provided service personnel for sport. So, yes.
