    If you are just going for the look, why not go for a authentic Lyman Super Targetspot? My 20x is more than likely not as bright as a leatherwood, but it is more at home on the 40X USMC.

    LA or SA? I really wanted a JAE-700 for my build, but I could not wrap my brain around putting $400 deposit down for a year+ wait. If they simply accepted a credit card number as a "hold" I'd put an order in today. How does the JAE weigh compared to your AICS? Balance about the same?

    Hey there fellow 7mmRM noobie! My first 7mmRM build just arrived at the smith for the build part. My goals match yours pretty much, but the breathing game (non-paper) will be exclusively elk. Went with a Remington Varmint Bartlein and AICS chassis.

    Came in to post something similar. Sounds like they are looking for a solution to a non-existent problem. No offense, but I cannot imagine a scenario where a police engagement would need better than that kind of accuracy much less at 100 yards. Smells like a department looking to throw money...

    Oh, that's the shoulder thing that goes up! I have to wonder how many users actually have a use for the shroud/rails on their precision rifles AX stocks.

    After weighing the options I too went with a 1.5. It's comfortable to me and I feel no loss of bells and whistles.

    If I understand correctly, the ogive on the VLDs would relate to the lands similarly to a non-VLD. But with more of the bullet forward. Am I kind of correct there? edit: CBTO would be similar, but OAL would be different?

    That pretty much enlightens me a bit. Most likely (besides commercial ammo) I will be loading A-Max 162s and Berger 180s. So SAAMI for starters, and then freebore if need be later. By the time powder, bullets and primers are in stock, it should be all crystal clear. :)

    "Sniper" is just a buzz word IMHO to try to justify higher cost. "Precision" over "regular sporting" is a better question.

    Aren't the JEA-700s still virtually unobtanium? The action will be gathering dust on your bench long before your JAE is even a twinkle in the eye of the creator.

    Here's the rub: This is a complete build. I'll be sending in the parts and the unchambered Bartlein. The two reamers are the rem mags that LRI does. Working up dummy rounds and perhaps having a custom reamer made may be the option when it comes to rebarrel. Am I understanding it correctly that...
